Smile Tiny Update

Hey friends,

I will return from vacation next week, and start coding patch #4. I am feeling good, although I did not leave for some sort of trip during the time off.

Patch #4 should then be ready sometime in August, and it will probably be the last patch for OOTP 10 unless something major happens. We will concentrate on OOTP Online after that.

All the best,
Markus

As someone who has been wanting to get involved in an online league for some time now but haven't gotten around to it, this excites me!

Markus,

I was wondering if you could look at the way AI teams deal with the waiver wire. It's not the players the AI places on waivers, it's the fact that AI teams don't make claims for players that might have some decent upside with minimal or minor league contracts. I can see when a player on waivers has a large contract, but some of these players aren't getting any claims at all. Now granted I'm using scouts, but still I feel many of these players would still be an upgrade to what many teams might have on their bench, or at least in the minors.

Also, can you fix it so that day/night stadiums can be assigned different player coordinates? As it stands now, this feature is useless because this cannot be done.

Some of us had hoped that putting OOTPX to bed early as far as patches are concerned would enable an earlier start on work for OOTPXI and maybe a target release date of opening day. I presume that the online project would take precedence over the next stand-alone version of OOTP and render this point of view obsolete? Or is the idea now to move to an online model that would replace the stand-alone game?

Or work on OOTP Online now with a year gap between OOTPX and OOTP 11 - make OOTP 11 come out Opening Day 2011.

That's my best guess. Wouldn't be horrible, to be honest, but I'm not sure how that would work with a business plan considering OOTP is Markus' livelihood.

Would shock me if this were the last OOTP. I've said so before.

I am willing to bet OOTP online is the new direction Markus will take.

PSU, if you feel these things need to be fixed, please be sure they are logged in Tech Support! Thanks!

well, I don't feel these are bugs, but rather design decisions.

Whatever you put into this patch Markus....

YOU MUST FIX THE IMPORT of correct pitch selections for historical players.
This was IMHO one of the biggest boost for OOTP, having really to count on what pitches a pitcher actually threw.

Up to today only the knuckleballers seams to get correct pitch, but soooo many classic pitchers had their signature with a certain pitch.
You have put it into the master.csv file, but obviously it doesn´t work. Working over each and every pitchers for every year in a dynasty game is just too much.

I´m sure the fictional players work fine, but this can´t be too much of a fix and it must be made if this is the last patch.

I´m begging on my knees and kissing the ground you walk on in a hope that you will fix this.

I don't play ANY online games so this would be a real downer for me. To many things this game still needs IMO to be perfect.

When did the knuckleballers start importing that way? Last time I tried Phil & Joe Niekro didn't import with it.

I think this could be better implemented by having an optional non-Lahman file. If the file exists and it locates a player, then use it to generate pitches. Otherwise use the existing logic. That way, you don't require OOTP to figure out what kind of Lahman database you are using.
