Roster Size Disaster
I am playing with the default rosters. In addition, I added a couple of independent leagues. I'm rolling along, controlling all the teams in order to update the rosters to today's rosters.
So here I am, trying to go from June 20th to June 21st, when the game informs me that "Lincoln has an illegal number of players on the active roster! (0)" Annoyed at forgetting to do this, I fill the independent league with fictional players. I hit "finish today" and I get, "Lincoln has an illegal number of players on the active roster! (0)". I check the Lincoln team and, sure enough, their roster is filled with vibrant young talent. Full roster. So, I disable the league's roster limit option. Hit "Finish today". "Lincoln has an illegal number of players on the active roster! (0)" Now I say, "Alright OOTP! Despite the fact that I spent a fair amount of time setting up these independent leagues, I'll go ahead and flush that work away!" So, I erase the independent league containing the Lincoln team. "Finish today". "Lincoln has an illegal number of players on the active roster! (0)" At this point, Lincoln doesn't even exist anymore! And there is no other team called "Lincoln" in any of the other leagues. I shut down the game and re-open it. "Finish Today". "Lincoln has an illegal number of players on the active roster! (0)" So, now I am stuck on June 20th. I can't move forward to the next day because this ridiculous game doesn't recognize that a non-existent team cannot have an illegal number of players, because it no longer has a roster! Please, can someone, anyone, help me salvage the hours I put into this game? Or, am I just screwed? Thanks. Chris |

UPDATE:
I just reloaded the same rosters which I had backed up. This time, I went ahead and filled the rosters of all independent leagues with fictional players prior to starting the ML season. I also filled the filler leagues. Went ahead and simmed the season, and sure enough, on June 20th, I was informed that Lincoln once again had (0) players on the roster. I checked the team, and the roster is filled completely. No idea what the hell is going on here. |

Can you zip up your .dat files from your saved game and FTP them to us as per the instructions in the How To FTP Your Files To Us thread.

While you're waiting, you might try the OOTP9 threads ... I remember hitting this or a problem that looks just like this (I think in the last version) and that there was eventually a solution but for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

Thanks for the heads up fellas. Looking through some of these other threads, I saw that the issue might be related to the schedule and sure enough, I didn't generate a new schedule after adjusting my independent leagues at their creation. So...one of them still has some of the default teams scheduled to play games even though they no longer exist. I'm going to trash the leagues for this season and try to reestablish them before the start of the 2010 season.
Thanks again. |
