Crash to Desktop during initialization in XP
Hi,
I just bought/installed OOTP 10 and can't get it to start. It opens the initial loading screen with the spinning ball, then crashes, closing the program. Running the exe with the tracemode option (FYI, the shortcut for running in tracemode wasn't set up properly by the installer, the argument "tracemode" is in the quoted path of the ootp10.exe instead of outside the quotes), I generated a log file: Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup Successfully tried to open $USERPREFS/database, using C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10 as DMPT_CUST_DATA now Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup Successfully tried to open $USERPREFS/saved_games, using C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10 as DMPT_USER_DATA now Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup This is the DMPT_BASE path now: C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10 Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup This is the DMPT_BASE_DATA path now: C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10\data Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup This is the DMPT_APP_DATA path now: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10 Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup This is the DMPT_CUST_DATA path now: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10 Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup This is the DMPT_USER_DATA path now: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10 Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup This is the DMPT_SAVEDGAMES path now: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10\saved_games Wed 15th Jul 02:25 is_user_data_installed Path exists: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 10\database Wed 15th Jul 02:25 gui_skin gui_skin is not loaded yet Wed 15th Jul 02:25 gui_skin Try to load gui_skin 'ootp black' from file Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup Number of fonts loaded: 10 Wed 15th Jul 02:25 load_ootp_style_sets Starting to load the style sets... Wed 15th Jul 02:25 startup loading facegen & opengl... In another thread, I saw it mentioned that I could disable facegen initialization by renaming the facegen directory. I did this but it generates the same debug output. I'm using: XP have tried both the original and original plus patched game 1.8 GHz Intel and ATI RADEON 9700 I would like to try uninstalling/re-installing but the program won't even run enough to be able to unlicense. I don't want to re-install and lose a license for no reason. If I uninstall, is the license preserved on the machine when I re-install without using the 2nd install license? Thanks for any help |

I'm pretty sure the license is preserved if you uninstall/reinstall. Worst case scenario is you have to shoot an email to eLicense and they will reset the lost license, but I don't think that will be the case.

Alright. I'll have to give that a shot after work today and report back.

Ok. I have given uninstall/reinstall a try. No change. Same problem.
Any advice? |

Fixed the issue.
I'm guessing OpenGL was the problem. Reinstalled latest video drivers seemed to fix the problem. A little weird as it didn't seem to affect other OpenGL applications I have, but oh well, whatever works. |

Jali,
Thanks for your patience, and sorry I wasn't able to get to this before you resolved it yourself. ![]() But, great that you were able to resolve it! Thanks! Steve
