Scoring RBI on errors
These scoring issues are probably magnified because I only play pre-1950 baseball, and mostly pre-1930.
1) When an OF makes a bad throw home, there should be no error unless another runner on base advances because of the error. In fact, even if the other runners advance, there likely would be no error unless they advanced multiple bases on the throw, on the theory they took the extra base on the fielder's choice to throw home (or another base). In any case, in MLB, a hitter will almost always be credited with an RBI for the runner on 2nd who scores on a single, the runner on 1st who scores on a double, or the runner on 3rd who scores on a SF, regardless of a "wild throw". Also, since OOTP does not award more than 1 base on bad OF throws to a base (even on bad throws to 3rd, the runner going to 3rd never scores, only the runners behind him move up), and there are no errors for missing the cutoff man on a throw back to the IF, there should be no errors for bad OF throws in OOTP (as currently constructed). While it is true that an official scorer could award an error in these circumstances, this almost never happens because the benefit of the doubt goes to the runner who made the play happen. 2) It appears no RBI are being awarded on misplayed grounders (or bad throws on grounders) with less than 2 out and a runner on 3rd who scores. Unless the IF is in, an RBI should almost always be awarded.

I'm having a little trouble with this one, but then again I'm not on the rules committee.
![]() 1) Why is this magnified due to your era of play? 2) To the best of my knowledge, any base advance that is the result of mishandling, wild throws, i.e. errors officially recorded or not, and eventually culiminates in a run scored due to the extra base or bases cannot be attributed to the batter driving in such a run. 3) Maybe you could explain your #1 paragraph 2 more clearly for me. I'm not sure what your contention is there, specifically the "there should be no errors for bad OF throws."
