BZ 3451: Players are sent to the reserve roster when importing rosters with AI roster moves disabled
Alright, this is a problem I have going back to v9. I hoped the new version would somehow fix it, but it didn't and I can't put it off any longer.
I need to edit service time of a lot of players in my online league. I export rosters from game setup, do my editing in Open Office, save and import. When I do, all the players disappear from major league rosters in the all of the transactions/roster/lineups/pitching/etc screens (see attached screenshot). If I search for a disappeared player, the player shows up in the results with the correct team identified and I can go into their player profile. But as far as setting rosters is concerned, those players are gone. The minor leagues are fine, though - it's just the majors that are affected. Even if I don't make an edit - if I just export rosters and immediately import that file without doing anything to it - the players still disappear. Any idea what's going on? I really need to be able to make these edits this season. You can download the file at http://tcba.victory-league.com/tcba.zip ... send me a PM and I will give you the commish password.

That might be an acceptable workaround for one team but I'm not about to go and do that for 22 teams.

As I said, the only team the players went missing is my major league team. All the minor league teams are fine and all AI teams are fine except all the minor leaguers now have major league contracts, even though the contracts are all for $0. They have some things to work on with the import/export feature for sure. Last edited by StyxNCa; 07-17-2009 at 04:34 PM. |

I was unaware this is such a pervasive problem. Is anyone at OOTP aware of this? Can someone on the tech team take a whirl at this? I really need to be able to mass edit my online league this season.

Anything? Is OOTP aware of this issue? If not, will someone please take a look at this? It is very important to my long-running league that I be able to export and import rosters.

I suspect this is due to the setting of whether you allow the computer to make roster changes or not.

Could you elaborate? This is an online league so there are no computer-controlled teams. It is set to not allow AI roster changes and the only other option is to allow computer-controlled teams to make roster changes, which doesn't apply.
Besides, it shouldn't be making any roster changes. All I'm doing is editing financial information and reimporting. Everything else like lineups and rotation should stay as they were.

I just set up a quick test league. When I have it set to not allow the AI to make roster changes it moves all players to the reserve roster upon import. If I click "allow computer controlled teams to allow AI changes" then import the same file, all the players wind up in the right places.

I then took that test league and assigned fake humans as the managers.
1) I clicked "do not allow AI to make changes" and imported...all players ended up on the reserved list. 2) I then clicked "allow computer-controlled teams to make changes" and imported...all players wound up in their correct spots. |

Well what do you know! That fixed the problem. Thanks RonCo!

Now I have this problem. Does it matter that all these guys have $0 major league contracts as opposed to minor league contracts? Will they be accumulating service time because of it?

Dunno. You might save it of as a quickstart or stand alone file and then on the trial file run time up a day or two and see if they revert. You could also try setting their days of pro service to zero in case they got changed. Just guessing here.

Alright, I'll run some tests and see what happens. Thanks again for the help.
If this hasn't been flagged as a bug yet, it should be. Players are sent to the reserve roster when importing rosters with AI roster moves disabled, even if teams are human owned and even if using minor leagues (in which case the players just disappear because the reserve roster is inaccessible).

Hi guys,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your thread. ![]() Thanks for the excellent troubleshooting. It seems like you've pretty much nailed it. (*tips cap to RonCo*) I've logged this as issue # 3451, and I'll ask Markus/Andreas to take a look. Thanks very much, Steve
