Quit without save?

Is there some way to turn off the auto-save upon quitting OOTPX? On occasion I like to quit the game without saving the changes, and I'd rather not have to End Task using Windows Task Manager--seems kind of overkill, but I don't see any other way to do this.

I second this. A completely unnecessary feature.

It would make some things easier. For example, if you use my playoff utility you have to exit OOTP X to allow the utility to make the changes and then restart OOTP X and load the league. Turning off the forced save would mean you could save the game, edit the playoffs, and then click Load Game and reload it without ever exiting OOTP X

This issue comes up from time to time. IIRC Markus doesn't like the idea of people turning off the game to get rid of a bad sim, so the auto-save on exit thing is unlikely to be removed.

So much for the idea of 'Its your game; play it your way'.

If that is his philosophy, he might want to consider putting in an 'undo last move' button in the ingame lineup screen for those moments when we accidentally drop a player in the wrong spot and lose a game that we likely should have won.

There are many reasons to quit w/o saving other than to correct a sim that doesn't go one's way--goofy AI decisions that wreak havoc, game experiments, errors, and so on. And as I said, one can always safely quit using Task Manager, it just shouldn't have to come to that.

Very good points. Are you reading all this Markus?

When you're playing your league, start creating a new league, press cancel instead of creating one, and then load up the league you were playing. It won't have saved itself. This is the only workaround I know of.

Just curious, but wouldn't an exit without saving give an unscrupulous on-line commissioner to get an unfair advantage if he also owns a team? I have never been in an on-line league before (starting my first now.)

Perhaps there should be a seperate option for people not playing in an online league.

That's the idea. Save-upon-quitting makes perfect sense for online leagues, not necessarily for offline leagues.
