Contraction poll

Ok so I am going to start a new league using the in game mlb set and I want to get rid of 4 teams. I am using attendance figures to see which teams to not get that much support. Coming from Chicago I know fans will support a team even if it losing oh cubbies. Mostly I believe its the markets that some teams are in.

So the poll has the teams that have ranked among the worst, in baseball, in attendance over the last five years. My picks are Florida, Tampa, kansas and Pittsburgh.

LOL I put Oakland on there twice so just select it once if you think they should leave.

me and a buddy just set up a league and contracted 6 teams(semi-random cubs, tigers(buddy), brewers(me), yanks and sox were safe). We got rid of the Rays, Dodgers, Rangers, Marlins, Giants and Royals. Made for some pretty good talent available to the other 24 teams

I voted for Florida and Tampa Bay amongst others. Only because I'd like to keep Florida for Spring Training games only. It's probably just the old fan in me that's talking there, though.

I could not bring myself to vote for the Reds or the Pirates. Those two clubs just have to much history to get rid of.

Apparently they don't rank in the lowest attendance in the last 5 years.

I couldn't vote for KC. Fans would support that team if that team would bother to put a product on the field, same with Pittsburgh and Cincy IMO. Florida just can't be bothered with it, and Cleveland has sucked since 1776... although I didn't actually vote for either Florida team - what the hell did I base my vote on?

Why are there two options for Oakland? Just in case you really hate the A's?

Yeah dont get rid of the Twins. They have won two world series and are actually pretty good at drawing fans especially when they are winning. It was a selfish act by Selig to try and get rid of them in the first place.

I voted on keeping tradition so Wash, KC, Oak, and Florida are gone. Wash and Fla are really the only great options I hated choosing Oakland and KC but I wasnt going to get rid of Cincy or Pitt.

Yes, there is a LOT of tradition in Tampa Bay. I'm not voting, because the four teams ought to be Tampa Bay, Arizona, Colorado, and Florida (unless they change their name to the Miami Marlins, then we can boot out the Canadians once and for all....)

Yep, pretty amazing conflict of interest there. All he did was alienate all the cross border fans. When the Brewers went to the NL a lot of Twins fans started to root for them as their "NL" team. Not any more.

Actually, there is a lot of baseball tradition in Tampa Bay, yes, the Rays are young and might not have a lot of tradition themselves, but pro baseball has been in the bay area as far back as 1892.

Way too hard to choose. Here is my choices

1. Florida being a Rays fan I would not care if Florida is gone
2. Milwaukee not listed but should be
3. Arizona not listed but way to hot and only a retractable roof
4. Yankees not listed but just sick of having a team that thinks they can buy World Series every year and then don't win one

Just saying...lol

Not Tampa, why. Great team, young talent, a great pitching staff. Pena, Crawford, Upton, Longoria need I say more.

Since the threat of contraction they've had what seven consecutive winning seasons and four divisional titles.

Let's start with the cities that have two teams!

I love all the people voting against the Rays..How many teams have 4 all stars and another that made it to the Home Run Contest, lets see is that 5 players, correct me if I am wrong. Great exciting baseball here and we are small market team. Leave this team alone and take all the big market teams that spend hundreds of millions of dollars (Yankees) and do not even make it to the World Series

My vote for Tampa has nothing to do with the quality of the Rays players. It just that if you have to get rid of a team, you get rid of the one that you will miss the least. Since there were no Rays when I was a child (only Tarpons), they can safely exit my baseball consciousness with a only a modicum of regret. Also any team named for a state, rather than the city they play, should be ostracized (except the Minnesota Twins, the only team with a legitimate reason for their moniker).
