East Quarterfinals, Game 3
I just have to point out this game that I just witnessed. This has to be one of the craziest games in NHLB history. The Rangers led 15-5 going to the 8th inning. Carolina scored 6 in the 8th inning and 4 in the 9th inning to tie, only to have the Rangers win in the bottom of the 9th on a three-run home run. The game took 5 hours and 28 minutes, and that's not even including a 50-minute rain delay in the 2nd inning. There was a grand total of 13 pitchers used, and 18 bases on balls. Not bad for a 9-inning game!
This Rangers victory gave them a 2-1 lead in the series. Last edited by jg2977; 07-09-2009 at 03:16 PM. |

West Quarterfinals, Game 5
Minnesota wins the series, 4 games to 1.
Another absolutely pathetic playoff performance by the San Jose Sharks.

1954 Stanley Cup Finals preview
The New York Rangers will face the Minnesota Wild. This series is a rematch of the 1910 Finals, the only other time that the Wild made it that far. The Rangers won that series 4 games to 2.
The Rangers are 3-time Stanley Cup Champions (1910, 1948, 1949). The Wild are still looking for their first title. |

Wild 2 at Rangers 4 Wild 4 at Rangers 2 (Min scored 3 in 9th to win) Rangers 6 at Wild 1 Rangers 4 at Wild 3 Wild 6 at Rangers 3 Rangers 4 at Wild 7 Game 7 coming up... |

I know. The Sharks are the NHLB version of the Yankees. Choking in the playoffs every year.
I'll do the 1955 season sometime today, hopefully. Last edited by jg2977; 07-10-2009 at 09:18 AM. |

1955 Standings
This year the San Jose Sharks will play the Calgary Flames in the first round. Both teams have a long history of poor playoff performance. Neither team has appeared in the Stanley Cup Final. So this will definitely be interesting.
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Minnesota Wild finished 7th, and will face the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round. The defending Eastern Conference Champion New York Rangers finished 4th, and will face the Buffalo Sabres in the first round. |

Things are going well for the Sharks right now. I'll have to finish the rest later, but I'll be back. |
