I used to think that the computer was tough to beat. Then I traded my utility infielder to the Dodgers for a 4.5 star catcher.
I just need a few more trades like that, and **I** will be ready for the Nats challenge!

You could throw three pitches. One was a fastball over the heart of the plate, one was a curveball over the heart of the plate, and the last was a slider than went low, which the CPU might swing at maybe once a game. There were only a few types of hits in the game too, they would always follow one of a few predetermined paths. When the game determined that you hit a single, it would zip through the infield so fast it was literally impossible to do anything about it. If you got to the ninth inning with less than a four run lead, forget about it, you were toast. And the songs were pretty lame too.

Actually I loved RBI Baseball. My only complaints were that you could only play eight major league teams, that starting pitchers always tired too early, that pitching staffs consisted of only four pitchers. The gameplay was pretty good for its day, and the songs were fun, though inappropriate for MLB teams--all were taken from Japanese pro ball.
RBI Baseball 2 and 3 were more complete games, though the gameplay suffered, and the players all looked anorexic. |

With all due respect, Mogul stinks. OOTP still has a couple flaws, for example: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post2775905 but it still is miles and miles and miles ahead of Mogul, which I played and liked. OP: Give the game time, try different teams and experiment until you find a format/setup that you like. Trust me, it will be worth the "work"/investment in time. This game is the real deal. |

Well, at least give the guy credit for being able to pull himself away from the game long enough to speak the truth about what a horrible game this is. I know I haven't been able to do it -- and I've been playing this game for at least a WHOLE YEAR now!!

This guys right!!! The game cheats and I think Markus purposely made it this way to mess with mankind!
Actually, I walked past a restaurant yesterday and I'm sure I saw Markus having dinner with my wife! Beware this man! |

Of course, it's fairly easy to circumvent the AI cheating via the Gload Code.

Sure, the game is really fun & easy when you are just GM'ing a team. Boy, try to play a game though is next to impossible. I was on a 30 game losing streak over THREE different leagues of three different types (historical, 2009, and fictional) before I just threw up my hands and quit playing. Yes, QUIT PLAYING THE GAME! Oh, I'll pick it up again when I decide to GM again, but I would love to actually play the games out on occasion.
I posted my complaints about what the game doesn't do right in another thread. It was the one about me simply playing out the WS cost my team the title. Well, I was right and wrong about that. I forgot that I had made it a 9-game series, and with me SIMMING the last two games, guess what? I WON with my Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner pitching a 3-hit shutout. Oh, that just lowered his ERA for that series to under SIX!!!! He couldn't get out of the 5th in either game I had him pitch, but wow, he could pitch to his ratings with the AI running everything. My staff ace finished them off in the 9th game with a 2 hitter (yeah, I suck at this game so much I could assemble a tremendous pitching staff with the 2nd and 4th HR hitters in the NL). To the OP, try just simming out the game for a few months, then see how bad your team is. I'll bet you that they'll be a much better team. I'll also bet any of you that I could just GM a team to dynasty status for 15-20 years then manage them to under a .400 record doing nothing out of the ordinary and try to win every game. There have been others on this board complaining about starting with teams that won 90+ games irl and finishing under .500 in that season. Maybe the non-fanboys just all suck at the game? |

Also, no solid pitcher has ever had a bad game in the playoffs and not been able to get out of the 5th, or had an ERA over than 6 in a span of a few games, so this definitely needs tweaking too.

If you think the quoted passage in any way reflects The Show then you quite simply need to learn to play.

We can leave it at that. But, boy the fields are fertile.
We can agree that this game (OOTP X) is a work of art. Peace.
