Free Agency

I'm playing a dynasty in OOTP10 and all the time SP get signed to five year contracts between 5-7 mil a year. That seems like a lot but these pitchers are pretty good they should be making more like 8-13 Mil a year. Free agency salaries are way tooo low.

OOTP does not model real life MLB salary structure. As long as these salaries are internally consistant with the league you should be OK. Also if this is a new dynasty, salaries typically start low and creep up during the first few years.

Look at your financial settings and see what star quality players should be making according to your settings. You will probably see that all of your settings are lower than MLB salary ranges (which is fine.)

It's possible that it won't follow normal MLB salary structures. If your league isn't making enough money you could see far lower salaries than you would expect in MLB, or if your league makes huge money you could see far higher salaries than you would expect to see in MLB.

There are settings in league setup for the finances of the league. I forget which tab, but you define the average media contract, average ticket price, average superstar salary, average star salary etc.

The finances in OOTP are their own creature, a change to any of these can result in far different salary structures than are normal in MLB right now. As long as the best players in the league appear to be making the same money then you're fine.

-Meaning that if those pitchers you see making 5-7 million are indeed some of the best in the league, and those 5-7 million contracts are some of the largest in the league then you're okay.
-If they're the best in the league but those contracts are of mediocre level then you may have a problem.
-If they're mediocre players but the contracts are some of the largest in the league then you may have a problem.

It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.
