When do you need to disable financials so they're off for the season?

I'm not really a fan of the financial system in the game, but here's what I want to do in the future.

I would like to generate fictional contracts for players in the off season, then disable the entire financial system. That way at the end of the season, I can determine who the free agents are.

So at what point do I have to turn the financials on to generate the fictional contracts? Do I have to do this before the regular season starts, generate the fictional contracts and then turn them right back off?

Financials restart the day after the last playoff game is played by the major leagues.

As long as you stay in the same day that should probably maybe possibly most likely perhaps work.

You can do this, once the pre season starts.
Guess that's the first week in February.
