One player from each team MUST be on the All-Star team

This has been lacking in every iteration of the game. I know you can manually choose the All-Star team...but the game should take this into account. What's worse is that even when you have players who are worthy, the game seems to look at the team's record when deciding who should be on and who shouldn't. The best teams have multiple selections - the worse seem to have few or none.

It's a small thing, to be sure, but since the game has reach this point in realism, why scrimp on something that shouldn't be difficult to implement?

I hate this rule in real baseball, I hope we aren't forced to play with it.

I don't really care for the rule, either, but it probably should be available (realism is realism, after all). Maybe as a checkbox to make the one AS per team optional? And throw one in for tie AS games too....

I personally think it's a bad rule that's part of the reason the AL hasn't lost since who knows when.

I must say, I've never heard this as a possible explanation before.

Absolutely agree. I've been advocating the addition of several other ASG options, as well.

In addition to team representation and how ties are handled, we should be able to set the following...
  • Roster sizes
  • When and how DH is used
  • Whether or not the winner determines home-field advantage in the championship series
  • Whether to consider players' popularity in who gets selected
  • Which format to use (sub-league vs. sub-league or players from home nation vs. international players)
  • Whether to use a regular game strategy or get as many players into the game as possible when making substitutions (or set the average number of innings position players and pitchers should stay in the game)
  • Whether mostly starters and closers or a normal pitching staff (5 SP, 5 MR, 1 CL) get selected to rosters
  • Where the games are played (random location, neutral field, rotate between sub-leagues, etc.)
  • Who selects starters, reserves, and pitchers
  • Who manages computer-controlled teams
  • Whether there is a Home Run Derby and/or Futures Game and how each is formatted

Good ideas in this thread. A bit more simply, I'd like to see better sorting when selecting All-Stars. Have the selected stars ordered by position and also be able to sort and select based on the position they play rather than what they CAN play.

For example, if player A has ratings in 2B, 3B, and SS, he will show in all 3 if you try to limit by position even if he played the majority of his games at SS. I'd rather he only be shown as SS.
