I do have to ask Terrence LOng is a bit of an out of LF (pun may or may not be intended. ) pick, mainly due to his mediocrity. Just wondering why you hated him particularly.

1. Barry Bonds -- an arrogant, selfish, lying, hypocritical self-centered piece of garbage excuse for a human being.
2. Sammy Sosa -- ah, the truth comes out finally. Another one that's full of himself. I love it how he suddenly forgets the English language when he goes in front of Congress. 3. Milton Bradley -- just a total jag in general. I love how he takes shots at Cub fans for booing him. "Sue me" is his response. What an idiot. Someone pass him a box of tissues. 4. Roger Clemens -- charter member of the Chronic Liars R' Us club. 5. Carlos Zambrano -- Maybe he can share Bradley's box of tissues. Bad idea, they might fight each other for them. As you can guess, I am obviously not a Cub fan.

1) Barry Bonds
~How he is not #1 on every "most hated list" is beyond me. 2) Sammy Sosa ~Amazing how he suddenly forgets how to speak English when the tough questions start getting asked. 3) Mark McGwire ~"I am not here to talk about the past." This guy needs to grow some stones and stop acting like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. 4) Babe Ruth ~Sick of hearing how "great" he was. The guy was a fat slob who would never make it out of A ball if he played today. 5) Pedro Martinez ~Easily one of the most annoying and arrogant players I have ever seen. Very glad he is no longer getting any coverage. |

Yeah, Babe Ruth was overweight towards the end of his career. However, this is generally the only footage anyone who wasn't physically there has ever seen of him. Because of this, you're sadly not alone in having this completely uninformed opinion.

The equivalent today of what The Bambino did in the 20s would be somebody showing up next year and hitting 110 HRs. He changed the game and was so much better than any of his contemporaries. The earliest common film you see of him is the early 1930s when he was in his late 30s and still killing the ball. Past his prime and, yeah, probably out of shape.

I know its your opinion which is fine but to say he wouldnt make it out of A ball today is simply wrong. He was a great pitcher before he was a great hitter. He was putting up pitching stats comparable to the great pitchers of that generation and hitting stats that made Ty Cobb and Lou Gehrig look like mere mortals. To make a statement like this youd be basically saying that Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner and Lou Gehrig wouldnt make it past high school today. Last edited by jbergey22; 06-17-2009 at 05:48 PM. |

I don't mind saying I've always disliked Cap Anson.

Honestly, he was better than anyone in the Negro Leagues too. The fact that he wasn't playing against all of the best goes both ways. Yeah, Josh Gibson hit a ton of home runs, but would he have done the same in MLB at the time? Who knows? Neither had to hit against Pedro Martinez or any Dominican players. Personally, I don't discount what either of them did. But it's like Roy Halladay becoming a hitter next year and winning the Triple Crown. It's amazing.

Good call. I had forgotten about his racial bigotry until you mentioned his name.

1. Don Buford For the last 45 years I've blamed him for the White Sox not winning the '64 pennant
2 Tom Seaver gave up a run in an All-star game that cost me a 500 buck pool. 3. Larry Sherry '59 series 4. Tito Landrum '83 playoff home run 5 Jaime Navarro My least favorite White Sox of all time
