Best Transaction you made?

Whats the best trade, free agent signing or Draftee or even a minor league call up that help you the best? I think is my favorite part is just seeing peoples trades or drafts!!!

My favorite move so far in my Jays Dynasty was to pick up 1B Justin Smoak from the Reangers prior to the 2009 season. I sent a package of prospects (C Brian Jeroloman, LF Eric Thames and 1B Nathaniel Nelson) to the Rangers for Smoak. I was looking for a 1B to replce Lyle Overbay who's contract was going to expire shortly. Smoak made the Jays out of Spring Training in 2010 and was phenominal hitting .322 with 36 HR and 113 RBIs. He was named the Rookie of the Year and made the 2010 American League Allstar team. Not bad considering I aquired him thinking he would be an okay option as a switch hitting 1B who would hit around 15-20 HR a season.

That's interesting because that same time in my Pirates dynasty they offered me Smoak for a couple of weak prospects. I don't know why they wanted to get rid of him so bad because he was rated pretty highly by my scout. So of course I said yes to the trade and he went on to have a similar rookie year making the all-star team.

Placing Ryan Hanigan in the starting lineup and benching Ramon Hernandez.
In 34 AB, he is hitting .441/.525/.647.

The only trade I've made was: 1B Logan Parker [AAA], 3B Todd Frazier [AAA], and SS Paul Janish [MLB] to Oakland for SP Brett Anderson. I sent Anderson to Lousiville for now. He'll be in the rotation in 2010. I plan on ditching Arroyo and maybe Harang in the offseason.

I can tell you what it's NOT. Trading my No. 1 draft pick after four months and 35 AB in the majors. The guy I got in return is serviceable, but the No. 1 pick (No. 3 overall) has hit 139 HR in 4 1/2 seasons with the other team.

I'm currently in my first season with the Nationals, and Pedro Martinez has been a solid signing. A league average SP [77.2 IP; 3.01 BB/9; 6.26 K/9; .9 HR/9; 9.1 VORP; .682 G/F] at $672,000.

I was in tight on the salary cap of 100 Million I have imposed in my league. My star player, a guy who averaged .370 in last 3 seasons with other stellar numbers want 18 million per year. I look around to my other players to see who I can deal to make room for what would be a 14 million dollar hike in salary, but I would have to gut my team. The guy is 34 years old, so not past his prime, but not a spring chicken, Maybe he could keep it up for another 3 years, maybe it goes downhill.. I literally look at all angles looking for one big pro or con to deal or keep him but cant find one.

In the end I decide, the good of the many outweight the few, I wont trade 3 or 4 other players to keep this one guy becuase of the bank he wants.

Hes a CF and I deal him to a bottom feeder who has the top ranked OF prospect. I manage to get thier first round pick as well. This a week before the trade deadline. (The guys a FA afgter this year.. ONLY the AI would accept this.)

I make the deal, the local fans are pissed, yet attendance remains good.

A week to the day I trade him, he suffers a career ending head injury. His team tailspins form 16th overall in a 20 tema league to dead last.

I get the first round pick in the next draft, a real stud and the OF prospect I traded for as well 2 seasosn later is a regular hititng .320 in his first season.

BEST DEAL EVER FOR ME!!

Note I have a self imposed rule not to deal for anyones top prospect and top 5 pick unless I give good value in return... yes its subjective, but we all know how easy it is to steal top picks and prospects from the AI!

One huge move I made was probably what's made my franchise what it currently is. I simmed 100 years of a league and took over managerial duties for one of the crappy teams. I picked Detroit, which finished last in ther division with 90+ losses in 4 straight seasons. We had the first overall pick in the first year player draft, and I was stuck between two players. One of them was 19 year old SP Tommy Graham, who had terrific talents, good enough overalls to already pitch in AAA, and a good work ethic, but he only had 2 pitches. The other guy I can't remember the name of, but he was 17 years old with a 10 out of 10 in work ethic, his contact and power talents were very good too. I picked Graham, who developed a changeup and was good enough to be in the majors the next season. He went 16-6 with a 3.19 ERA last year, and has started this year 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA.

Another great move I made with the same team was not trading Luis Lopez, a 26 year old stud SP who was brought up in Detroits system. His great ability to consistently pitch well gave him terrific trade value, so I really considered trading him, but I decided to keep him, and he went 20-7 with a 3.48 ERA and won the Cy Young, helping Detroit bounce back from their 61-101 season to go 81-81 in my first year managing them.

EDIT: Lopez was 26 in my first season managing Detroit

I would have to say my best trade was acquiring SP Zack Greinke in 2010 from KC, along with SP Luke Hochevar and SP Matt Mitchell. While Hochevar and Mitchell have both been disappointments, they were mere throw ins, so that's okay. Greinke has made this trade what it is. It's currently 2015 and he's had four all-star selections with me, and 3 Cy Youngs, while leading my team (The Nationals no less) to the last two championships. He's pitched over two hundred innings every year, and been dominant in the playoffs, although he's out three months this year, so that isn't going to happen.

In return, Kansas City got 5 players, four of whom have been waived or released by now. The fifth player is SS Wilmer Flores, who has never hit over .300, or for more then 15 HRs.

Clearly, I've made other moves that have worked out to get us to those championship, but none helped as much as getting the dominant starter who was good for 22 wins every year. Feels good after never nearing .500 my first three years. I thought I was going to get fired before I could really see all my prospects come to fruitition.

Yep, sounds like a trade the Royals would make in real life.

Traded Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Paul Casanova, the backup catcher, to the San Francisco Giants for catcher Tom Haller, outfielder Ken Henderson and a third-round draft pick.

I like this one because it's not lopsided. It shows me the game can make good, solid trades that help both teams.
Last I checked, Harrelson was hitting well for the Jints and is closer to being a "star" (was before the trade, too), but I'm scrounging for cheap players and there's more useful bit players at 1B, where Harrelson plays, than catcher, so I made the deal.
Haller's batting third and playing good D. Because he's not a flashy player, I worry about the game getting his quiet sort of values correct: takes a lot of walks, hits a lot of doubles but not a lot of HR, not real fast but a good baserunner ... the kind of player who you want to see do all the little things right. So far he's doing just that. I've had him in previous versions of the game where he was a little diminished across the board, and not worth picking up, but the game got him just about right this time (arm maybe a little weak, but otherwise good).
