This is a very good idea. And a way to make it actually work or have a purpose is to give players coming off longer term injuries "rust" they need to work off. Basically there needs to be a reason to do this rather than it's just what the MLB does.

Bumping this to talk a little more about switch pitching (Cue groans all around...)
I'm of the impression that switch pitching is fundamentally no different to switch hitting in terms of AI or coding required. The only issues would be with the way ratings are displayed and edited. Here is a mockup, done in paint, of how I think this should be shown in the editor:

This is the only way I might actually play out each game instead of complete sims.

I would say that I hope they never have switch pitching because this just means they wasted time working on that when they could have worked on something more important and applicable.
Everytime you bring it up I want to punch myself in the face. |

I tend to agree. There is so much left to add to the game that would add a lot to everyone's gameplay. I just don't see what switch pitching would add at all. It's extremely rare. Nevertheless, he's entitled to his opinion. I just really hope that development time doesn't get spent on this.

It's the ability to make the same change to a large number of players (or other things) simultaneously.
Want to set up a test league where everyone's ratings are 100, except the rating that you're testing? Want to assign all your outfielders to Left Field, so you can see whose overall/potential takes the biggest (or smallest) hit? Want to assign the fifty guys who just accepted your minor league contract offer to AAA, so you can see how many of them are overmatched there? Then reassign forty of them down to AA? Want to delete all the 20/20 free agents from the pool, but leave the better ones? Want to give all teams equal finances to begin a league? I could go on, but by now you should see the point. |

Mass select and the ability to adjust the accomplishments are the only things listed that interest me. I cant believe no one wants a decent individual game records keeping option.

I would like the ability to take out insurance on players. The cost would be determined by proneness x salary and it would cover the player's salary in case of injury.

I wish the game action interface would be more like one of two options:
1. either like gametracker for college baseball games that somewhat show the action of catching and throwing, even though its cartoonish with little peg people, its kind of cool 2. or completely nothing like following a game on the "gametrackers" on MLB.com or ESPN.com Unless I'm going to see the ball moving accurately around the diamond, I don't need to see the ball move at all. Trying to distinguish anything from that ball at all is frustrating at best. Last edited by gte842d; 06-16-2009 at 12:10 PM. |

more indepth play by play stat references
Hi all, I'm a long time OOTP player that is just now starting to post in the forums. What I've always wanted to see implemented is the used of stats being thrown out by the play by play announcer. with OOTP's amazingly deep stat engine this should be a no brainer. an example would be "chili davis is hitting .500 this year with runners in scoring position, a huge improvement over his .233 average last year."...."last night chili went 4 for 5 with two home runs with 5 rbi. he's hitting .600 this year against eckersley." You could include records that the player/team is nearing, recent injury history, accomplishments, pennant races, suspensions, ect. i think this would add HUGE amounts of depth to the game. it's much more realistic as far as what real play by play sounds like. i think it could also be a big aid in in making in game decisions.

Mass select sounds like a Boston lottery. I still want it, though.
And an "undo" button on the freakin' bullpen screen, or better AI on the bullpen screen for double-switches ... no, I didn't put my Gold Glove fielder in the No. 9 hole off of the bench in the ninth inning just so I could immediately replace him with the reliever I have warmed up ... it was supposed to be a double switch ... .

Print screen for all roster type pages, how hard can this be, the external browser is a pain.
Keep scroll bar from moving after making choices. A newspaper format was mentioned , is that no longer thought of? I would love to see team pages in sports page format, each with own paper name, writers. League news could be ESPN type network as is. Some animation would be very good, doesn't have to be major, just as mentioned, simple. Park pictures should load as pics and logos do, not put in one by one. Multiple generic player pics, say generated by facegen. Few , 1-2, no more than 3 major additions, smooth out current game. Most needed new item is LGO's financial fixes, do whole thing. Nuff, ran outta breath
