BZ 3096: AI Changes Pitcher Roles when setting up Rotation
Not sure if this is a bug or by design.
Playing a quick start ML with the Toronto Blue Jays: with the GCL Blue Jays I changed 5 of the MR positions to SP, but when I asked the Bench coach/Manager to set the rotation it turns all the players back to MR and won't place them in the rotation. So then I turned a player in AAA into a SP and asked again, they changed the position back again. The part that makes me feel like it's not by design is that it does not do it at the ML level. I was hoping to convert some MRs and have them play as SPs, I guess I will just have to manually place them in the rotation. |

Do you have the preferences set to control the minor leagues? The AI may put the middle relievers back into the bullpen, but it shouldn't change the designated position of each player (as viewed in the players view dialog).

And yes it's changing their designated position back to MR and putting them in the bullpen again. I just moved them to the rotation manually until I find out if this is a bug or by design. |

I logged this in our tracking system as BZ 3096. Like fredandres, I'm not quite sure whether Markus intended the AI to do this, or whether it's a bug. We'll ask him, and let you know what he says!
Obviously, the workaround for now is to manually set your pitching rotation if you're concerned about the role changes. Thanks! |

It isn't a big deal as I titled it, a minor issue. Just found it odd is all. I've set them manually for now. |

If I understand the issue correctly, it was handled under BZ2346. If the minor league mgrs are running your minor league teams, they would put pitchers in whatever roles they see fit no matter whether they are listed as a starter or reliever. It got annoying to look at a minor league team and see 8 SP's listed with only 5 of them in the rotation and the rest in the bullpen. If a guy is currently being used as a reliever, the game now shows him as a reliever. If he gets moved to a starting role, he will be shown as a starter. If you are handling the minors yourself, you should be able to change the roles as you see fit. Again, if you ask the computer to set up the minor league team, it will change the displayed role depending on how the pitcher is being used. Hope this makes sense.

Markus states that this is working as intended.

Because this issue is reported as working as intended, I will close this issue...
Thanks! |
