League Update Logs Users in as Commish

Version: OOTPX
PC/MAC: PC
Reproducible? Yes
Problem occurs with other leagues? Unknown

My team is the White Sox, set as league commish. When people download the updated files through the software, it logs them in as the commish. A password is set on every team. None of them, except for the White Sox, are set as commish.

This is obviously a big issue, and I'm not sure why it is doing this. Anyone having this problem? Or know of it?

Help is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you set up each of their team passwords initially and by chance set it to the same password as the League Commish password? If so, when you log in to a team using the league commish password, it will give you commish powers while managing that team.

Each team has a separate password. I put the commissioner team in first, then added all the other teams later. I found a workaround for the commissioner issue by just taking commissioner powers away from the White Sox and adding a "no team" commissioner. However, now when people download the league file, it just logs them in as the first team listed on the list (which happens to be the White Sox.) When they update, it doesn't prompt them for a password to log in until they request to change to their team. Basically, anyone can control the White Sox as it is set up right now.

That does not sound like anything I have encountered before. Is there any chance you can PM me the URL to your league file and if willing PM me the league commish password? I'd be happy to look at it later today.

I PMed you the requested information. I altered a few things since that message. So, now when you update the league files, it will not log you in as the commissioner, but as the White Sox. After the update, the user will have full control over that team, and they will not be prompted for a password.

Thanks, I sent you a PM reply.

Ok, your issue is the umm.. "unorthodox" method of naming your human managers

I assume the names you gave them are temporary, but by naming them all the exact same thing, " - - " (or maybe you left both first name and last name blank actually), it causes the game after loading the new file to get confused in regards to which manager you actually were. It is set up to keep you logged in to your team through the download, but it messes up here due to the manager names.

My recommendation would be to provide real names to the human managers, even if just temporary (or just leave non human controlled teams under AI control and delete those human managers that are not used).

Once I did that in a test environment I was able to get the normal behavior from your league file. Hope this helps!

You're the man!

Going to do this now and will post back with confirmation that it works.
