Can't change DH in game

My back-up catcher is my DH, I pinch ran for my starting catcher adn wanted to move my DH to catcher and the replacement to the DH, but the game won't let me change the DH's position. Why not?

Thanks in advance.

Because you can't do that in Major League Baseball.

Quote:
The Designated Hitter may be used defensively, continuing to bat in the same position in the batting order, but the pitcher must then bat in the place of the substituted defensive player, unless more than one substitution is made, and the manager then must designate their spots in the batting order.
If you move the DH to the field, your pitcher needs to hit somewhere in the lineup. I don't know if OOTP would allow the pitcher to be moved into the lineup in the middle of a game.

Thanks, didn't know that.

EDIT: I can't seem to get my pitcher into the line-up so I guess I am screwed.

I've noticed that. When you are playing the games the DH drop down in the lineup is greyed out and inaccessible. That may be something the developers can look at because as the previous poster stated it is a rule in MLB and we should be able to allow the DH to play in the field. In your case the pitcher would have had to bat in the starting catchers spot.

I think Marcus has said it would be too hard to code because of problems caused by one team using a DH and the other not.
