Latest patch - game won't start

I downloaded the latest patch (date stamp 07/01/2009) and the game won't start.

I've tried running as Administrator and no joy. It shows in the Task Manager for a brief moment then quits - no error nothing. Restoring the original EXE back and I can play again. Any ideas?

System is
Windows XP SP3
4GB Ram
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz
nVidia 8800GT 512MB

Any ideas on this? 6 days is kind of long to wait for an answer, don't you think?

At the very least I expect I'm going to have to give other info, so those questions would be welcome sooner rather than later

Ok - 4 days (even programmers deserve the weekend off) :-)

Did you just replace the exe file or do the full install?
I'm afraid I don't have any answers for you, and everyone who might is probably fully engrossed in OOTPX.
Hopefully someone will answer you soon.

By the way, your original post is dated 6/10 3:10 PM and it's now 6/12, so it's not even two days, let alone six or four.

ah...ok...American dates dammit. Just saw the 06 and presumed I had written it on the 6th. My short term memory is getting worse!

Anyway, I did just replace the exe because there was an exe download. Maybe I'll try the full patched download.
