Rating Editor

I was playing around with the player editor and decided to put in Mickey Mantle's 1957 stats (It is for a fictional league that is currently in the 1957 season.). So I put the stats in and I hit the Create current ratings based on stats button. It adjusted the stats, but when I went back the line had him hitting .413 when I only changed it to .365! I was wondering if I am doing something wrong or if this is a bug.

I'm not sure about this (I'm at work, so I can't check it) but I believe in order for the batting ratings editor to work, you need to normalize all of the statistics to 550 AB. I had a pitcher I was editing the other day, and I put in stats when he had about 620 AB for a career, and his batting average jumped from .100 to .193. When I normalized the stats (multiplied all stats by 550/# of AB), it came out right. You might want to give it a try.

I posted a couple of days ago in the tech support forum about the ratings editor not working properly. If you are correct regarding the 550 ab suggestion, then the ratings editor is worthless. I don't want to get out a calculator every time I want to use it. I simply want to enter a stat line and have the program do the rest for me. That is how this feature is supposed to work.

Thanks for the suggestion GCCWolverine you were right!

That being said I agree with 68pirate, what is the point of having the stat line if you have to keep on doing with a calculator? I thought that would be the best new feature and it turns out to be a major pain in the butt!

Multiplying the value by 550/# AB is hard? Don't they have calculators where you live?

No it is not hard at all just a pain in the butt! I thought that all I would have to do is enter a stat line and bam the game would reproduce it. I did not think that I would have to sit down and have to do math for something that is only a hobby.

Wow. I was trying to make a Japanese roster from the 2008 *** stats and came across this problem. I hope this gets fixed.

For a workaround to this, I created an excel document to do the transitions.

You need three rows - starting from cell A1.
First row: List all the names of the stats you're using (AB,H,2B,3B,HR,BB,HBP,K)
Second row: Enter all of the stats.
Third row: In the AB column, type "=floor(550/$a$1*a1 + .5,1)". This should give you the value of 550. Highlight the rest of that row, and then choose Fill Right. This will give you the corresponding values.

I don't want to be a crybaby, but I really think that's an extra step that we don't need to be doing.

So after the patch, this still has the same extra steps needed. Is this just the way things are? I'm pretty disappointed if that's so, since I was looking forward to creating the 2009 Japanese rosters.

Oh well.
