BZ 3221 : Mac crash on logo change

Machine: 1.67 GHz Powerbook (G4)/1 GB RAM
OS: Mac OS X 10.4.11
OOTP Version: The official release download

This one is repeatable, by me, anyway.

In game as commish, not employed by any team. 16 teams, 2 subleagues.

When I go into any team and give it a custom logo, the game crashes when I attempt to return to the team's home page. I appear to be able to go to other pages within the app, though. But if I go back to the home page in question the crash happens.

I'm at work and don't have access to my league right now. But if it's needed I can send it in tonight.

This happened to me as well. Mac crashed when trying to load a ballpark image into the ballpark options window. (It worked when I downloaded the daytime photo, but crashed when I tried the night time photo.)

As a side note, this was after I had imported my 9 league into 10. Don't know if that was the same case for you.

Actually, mine is a brand new league created in OOTP 10. Just in case it matters to anyone.

This is a recommendation I've posted in other threads:

Download a fresh copy of the game. Replace your OOTP application (not the whole game or whole folder, just the application -- you won't need to re-license) with the fresh one you just downloaded. See if you are still having problems. I suspect there is a component of the Mac OOTP application that is susceptible of being damaged, and apparently there is more than one way for that to happen. From my experience, if you replace the application you may never have a crash problem again (though I am keeping a spare copy of the application on hand myself). If you do get a recurrence of the exact same thing, then it's something that needs to be reported as a bug.

The possibility of a problem with crashes in the Mac version was never well established during beta, so it may take awhile for the developers to get focused on it. Even then, it may be difficult to fix, but I've had pretty good luck getting a stable game once I did this application replacement.

Well, I replaced the app as suggested and the crash is still happening as I've reported it upthread. So I reckon that means I get to report this as a real bug. Yay me!

Wow, I guess I really have to say thanks to the Mac. The bug which caused this crash was hard to find. Actually it exists on Windows and Linux as well, but there it didn't crash but overwrite random memory. Might be the reason for the crashes which we sometimes have on Windows systems, when closing OOTP.
