Suggestion

For a single conference single division league, in the history have the finalist including along with the league champion.

Reason

So when you want to know who made it to the finals, you don't have to search manually.

Suggestion
Include the age of the staff member in history page (per season) .

Reason
The same reason you keep track of that for the player.

Suggestion

Don't change game controls based on batter count, situation, etc.

Reason

So mistakes aren't made in managing a game. With runners on first and third, if 6 is the option to steal second, don't change 6 to steal home if there's an 0-2 count on the hitter.

Sort Team Statistics

Suggestion

On the team statistics page, allow the grid to be sorted.

Reason
I like to see what team leads in batting, era etc. This makes it easier.

Add Real-Life stats to filters

Suggestion

On the team roster page, add to the view drop down list an option to see real-life stats for the current year.

Reason

This will help us Historical League players. I kind of know what Honus Wagner and Christy Matthewson bring to the table; Tully Sparks - not so much. I realize there is a real-life stats page but it would be nice to see the real-life stats of the entire team on one page.

Priority
Medium

Add Park info to In Game screen

Suggestion

I do not see anyway to view the park data from within the game screen. This could be good widget to add.
I am still learning, so I apologize if this is there and I am missing it.

Reason
Sometimes when I pinch hit it helps to know if - for example - there is short porch in right field. In that case I would use a left-handed pull power hitter.

(The on-screen button, in fact, would be called Pause instead of Continue. So, if the user wanted to call a Pitch Out or Pick Off, he would hit the Pause button, to bring up these other options.)

REASON:

To reduce the number of clicks necessary to play out an entire game pitch-by-pitch. It can become quite monotonous having to click for each and every pitch.

PRIORITY:

Medium (for those who prefer pitch-by-pitch mode).
+1 Except I would make this a High Priority. As is, the interface is the reason I don't bother with pitch by pitch.

More PBP animation

Suggestion: Modify the PBP mode so as to show some animation. This could run the gammit from simply show the runners icons/names advance on the bases so as to compliment the text report on hits (not unlike easports mvp 2005 manage mode), 3D ball movement not unlike BBM or the espn.com gamecast.

Reason: It would give the PBP managers a more dramatic experience. I know this has been mentioned before but it makes all the difference to my style of play and i have to believe there are others. With this improvement OOTP would have no competition.

Batters Faced by Pitcher

Suggestion
I may be missing it, but I cannot find the Batters Faced by Pitcher statistic on any stat page for the pitcher. I realize I could calculate it myself (3*IP)+Runs allowed+Runners LOB but it would be nice to have it there.

Reason
This is a pretty important stat IMO as it is used by several advanced stats (like FIP).

Show BABIP for Batters

Suggestion

On the various stat pages and reports show the BABIP for hitters.

Reason
Many fantasy baseball enthusiasts use this to evaluate hitters as well as pitchers. I can calculate this myself but it would save me some time to have it in the Expanded Stats Page.

Percentage of Playing Time

Suggestion

In historical leagues for every Batter, show the percentage of playing time on the Expanded Stats page. This would be the number of in-game oplate appearances divided by the number of real-life plate appearances.

For the Pitcher, you would show the same stat. It would ideally use Batters Faced by Pitcher as its basis but if that is not available Innings Pitched would work.

Reason
One thing that is crucial to replaying a historical season is not overusing a player. A player who only has 200 AB should not get 500. While ideally this would be something the AI handled automatically, I would settle for some additional information on the various stat pages that would help me do this myself.

What's the point of having the manual awards voting page with slots for the #2 and #3 guy under each award category if that information isn't kept track of? In real life, discussions about great players also includes how many times they came close to winning an MVP or Cy Young award. The Keltner List, a common tool for evaluating potential Hall of Famers, even asks this question specifically.

Ditto..

I am a junkie to hit a players "history" section... for kicks.... I can flip through players for an hour randomly looking at this..

But this is non GUI and a pure data issue.

I agree as well - this would make the search function much more powerful and useful.

Player Search filter options

Suggestion: It would be nice to be able to filter the player search on contract terms, such as salary and years left.

Reason: It would make the search function more powerful and useful. For example, if I'm running a low-revenue club, I'd like to be able to exclude players making more than a certain amount of money. Another example, if I have some extra money in the budget at the trading deadline, I might want to pick up players that have expiring contracts, to try to get more compensation picks in the following draft.

Priority: Low - the game works without it, but it would improve the gameplay experience.

You can sort of do both those things now.

When you look up players, one of the options on the left (the same place you find Batting Ratings) is Financial Info. Select that view, then click at the top of the salary column, and the players will sort from most expensive to least. Click again, and they sort from least expensive to most.

As for your second request, on the same view there's a column for years remaining on contract. Alternatively, there's a seperate page called 'Pending Free Agents' that lists players in the final year of their contract.

SUGGESTION
Prompts for confirmation on unintended and irreversible selections.

REASON
There's nothing more frustrating than accidentally hitting a key and blowing a whole game. Twice in about 10 games with OOTP10 I've accidentally hit the intentional walk, and both times it probably cost me the game. (I'm not a complete klutz - the second time I clicked on the replay (the re-view), and thought I was clicking to continue when the next play suddenly appeared.) If not an undo, at the VERY LEAST, an "are you sure?" is needed if there's no one on, or a runner already at first. The "Finish Day" button should have a check if any human-controlled teams haven't played. These are basic programming principles (I've been a programmer for almost 20 years). You don't want to p*ss-off the user. It's fairly easy to program, and it shouldn't wait for a new version - it should be a patch!

PRIORITY
Very high
