"Could not load world file"
I am running on a mac, and am in the midst of attempting to convert my leagues over from OOTP9. When I click on Import, it prompts me for the world.dat file, and once I select, it goes through the necessary steps of conversion. But, then it stops and says that the world file could not be loaded.
Any ideas? |

I realise there may be a drag on the servers, but if possible could you zip up the .dat files from your OOTP9 league directory and FTP them to us as described here and then do the same for what is currently in your OOTP10 converted directory.
If you can give the zips an _9 and _10 suffix before the .zip that would be helpful.

There are 17 .dat files in my OOTP9 folder, but only 7 in my OOTPX one.
These are: Coaches. dat ethnicities.dat faces.dat human_managers.dat messages.dat names.dat nations2.dat Does that help, or do you actually need to see the files? The OOTP9 one is 362 mb, where as the OOTPX is just 17 mb. |

Alright, I have zipped it up, but have no idea what to do. I'm not a FTP user, and most of that stuff is gibberish.
It says I can do it with my browser in that thread you posted, but I can't figure out how to do it. |

When you click on the link in the linked thread what does your browser show? I'm not a Mac expert so am not sure what happens on one.

If you find your zip file and choose "Copy" and then go to that browser window can you paste into it?

It will not let me paste. No option to do that.
I tried to drag the file, but that just results in me downloading my own file. |

I'll have to send out some feelers for a Mac user who knows how this works on the Mac. You'll have to bear with me for a while.

That's fine. I appreciate the help. Need to use a test league anyway prior to playing my old game to get used to everything.

OK, it seems like in order to get your files to us, you're going to need to install some sort of FTP tool. There's a ton of them out there that are free and easy.
FireFTP - The Free FTP Client for Mozilla Firefox is one that integrates specifically with FireFox. FileZilla - The free FTP solution is another free FTP product. If you can install one of these, we can help you set up the connection to send us your files. I'd suggest you just e-mail them, but they're far too large. So, we're somewhat stuck unless you can do this! ![]() Steve |

OK, first off bear in mind I'm using the PC version of FileZilla, so I'm not 100% sure it's identical. But try this:
First, zip up all of those .dat files from your OOTP 9 league, and give them a name that makes sense like "koolkerns.zip". Then: 1. Open FileZilla and go to File | Site Manager 2. Click New Site 3. In the Host box, type ootpsupport.com. 4. Click on the Advanced tab, and in the Default Remote Directory field, type incoming/ootp/saved_games/. 5. Click Connect. It should connect to our server. 6. The right side of the screen is our server, the left is your computer. On the left, navigate to find your zipped up .dat files. 7. Drag them from the left to the right, and watch the transfer status. When it's done, post back here and let us know it's done! I hope this works! If it doesn't seem to match up, let me know, and I'll grab the mac version on my Mac so I can be sure I'm looking at the same thing! |

On step 4, when I connect - it says:
"Default remote path cannot be parsed. Make sure it is valid and is supported by the selected servertype." My remote path is: incoming/ootp/saved_games/ , as you said. |

Alright, remove that path, and just connect.
Then, once connected, on the right side, you'll need to double-click to go into the incoming folder, then ootp, then saved_games. Give that a whirl! |

It should be uploaded as kk101-ootp9convert.zip.
What are you searching for? |
