Even though he's on the Red Sox roster, I'd have to say John Smoltz (now that Maddux has retired).

Chase Utley.

Non-Phillies, Adam Dunn.

Jose Reyes is by far my fav, but I love guys like him too, C Crawford, J. Rollings, guys that hit for high Ave have okay power and can take bases like they are candy in babies hands. Playing SS helps, as does leading off. I wish we could go back to the '80s when hitting 35 jacks was really Fing good, and station to station baseball meant you were either lazy, or your organization was down right poor.

And to those that said big Z, that guy is a stud but he is also a thug. Anyone else see that game with the fight between Chris Young and Derrik Lee. Big Z came out the dugout while taking his belt off like he was going to straight whip guys or something. Thug life!

I'm having a hard time coming up with a name.
Minnie Minoso is my all time favorite and it took me decades before I came up with another name to add to my list- Carlton Fisk

If pressed to name a currently active guy I'd have to go with Jermaine Dye, South Side World Series hero

Mostly I live in the past

Minnie Minoso should be in the hall of fame.

I dunno why I didn't think of him earlier, but my second favorite is Jayson Werth, mostly because he has a legitimate shot at being the most efficient base stealer of all time.

He has had his thug moments, but it is limited to baseball. I can excuse that because the guy leaves everything on the field.

No, my question. I get to go first. Why in pluperfect hell would you pee on corpse?

Joe Crede, man I wish we had him back in Chicago. He is/was the best clutch hitter, Twins fans had to like his walk off grand slam this year! GO JOE!

I'm currently favorite player-less.

Forever until 1994 : Kirby Puckett
1994-2007ish : Mike Piazza
1998ish-2006ish : Brad Radke
2004ish-2007ish : Johan Santana
2006ish-2008ish : Nick Punto
2007-2008ish : Pat Neshek

I currently don't have someone that I consider to be my favorite. Mauer is close, Morneau is close.

I think of it this way: which player do I want a jersey of? Nobody comes to mind as someone that I WANT his jersey - though I wouldn't have gotten a Santana or Punto jersey during their years.
