Milton Bradley a 5 star player??

I wonder why Bradley is a 5/5 star player?? And Soriano is a questionable 5/5 star player. Let the debate about the OOTPX roster set begin.

How good is your scouts, is this by position or overall, there are other info that would be need to know before could debate how acurate these are.

Yeah, Jim Hendry certainly thought Milton Bradley and Soriano were five star players.

The fans still think Soriano is. He's second in All Star voting.

You know what they say about opinions.

GM's and scouts can have widely differing opinions about players one man's five star is another man's 3 or 4 star. Jimmy Piersall once said Corey Patterson was a five tool player with the ability to be the next Junior. He was wrong.

So does this mean beta testers can start talking about the game now?

Milton Bradley batted over .320 last year and had over 20 HRs. He was 17th in MVP voting. Some may consider this 5 star stats. Also is the 5 stars compared to other players in the league or just in his position. That has an effect as well.

Marcel has him as a .292 hitter. That places him in the top 5%.

CHONE has him as a .298 hitter. That places him in the top 1%.

ZiPS has him as a .291 hitter. That places him in the top 5%.

OLIVER has him as a .288 hitter. That places him in the top 3%.

Bill James has him as a .287 hitter. That places him in the top 5%.

The consensus of major projection systems before the season was that Milton Bradley was a major offensive force at the top of the pyramid.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the star ratings don't take the fact that he's a complete nutjob into account.

Only 1 out of 6 MRs rated over 1 star. That's good to see considering they were consistently rated much higher in the past, which was a problem.

Which kinda shows how dubious those projections are. Ratings really should be based on a career and not one peak season. He has only hit 20 HR's once. Only played more than 125 games once. He clearly isnt in the top 5% of players judging by his value and the fact that this is his 7th team in his 9+ seasons.

I'm not so sure about that. I know another beta tester who's kind of flapping his yap on another forum.

You don't understand how these projection systems work, do you? They are based on career data.

Here's a snip concerning Marcel:

It uses 3 years of MLB data, with the most recent data weighted heavier. It regresses towards the mean. And it has an age factor.

Which is also fine, considering how the scrubs bullpen has performed this year

I don't know if Milton Bradley is a 5-star player or not, but how does he find the time to play professional baseball and publish all those board games?
