very minor bug in pbp gameplay

Setup: OOTP4.2b, fictional league, 2004 (do I need to be more specific?)
Game Situation: Guy on first. 0 or 1 out.
What happens: Batter lines out to 3B. Pbp says the fielder makes the catch, "the runner is too far off the bag! [third baseman] simply steps on the bag for the out! Double play!" (rough quote).

I've seen this happen a couple times. Can't recall if I've seen it happen to runners on any bag but first. I understand that it probably doesn't create a disadvantage since it would happen to my opponents as frequently in the long run as it does to me (although of course I don't remember any cases of my opponents getting screwed, just cases where it's me banging my head on the monitor), but it's still pretty frustrating.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I poked around but couldn't find anything. I'm new and not too familiar with this forum. Used search and went back about 60 days but saw nothing on this problem. If anyone has any input I'd appreciate it.

This happens in 5.10 as well. Exactly as I described above. Man on first, batter lines out to 3B, 3B steps on "the bag" or tags "the runner" for a double play despite the guy he's doubling up being all the way across the diamond.

I had my third baseman (Elias) field a bunt with runners on first and second, then throw to third to get the lead runner. Mind you, he threw it to Elias. I thought that was odd.

Steve,

How about this situation? Bases loaded, tie game, fewer than two out, bottom ninth, ground ball to the first baseman (or any other infielder, for that matter), and the stated individual throws to....first for the out--with the winning run scoring??? Had this happen to me last night. Very frustrating.

Goodness, the right play is obvious, of course. Is this a known issue as well? I appreciate your answer.

You need to have your infield in in order to turn the DP. What will happen (or at least what should happen) is the infielder will throw home for out no. 1, and then the catcher will throw to first in an attempt to gun down the runner.
