In April, in Cleveland, can't do much of any of the above (well, you can CONCEIVE kids ... but even then you know the due date). Now, it's just kind of passed .. digging through all it takes to get in to a game of this heavy nature. If it was a week before Opening Day or right around then, the enthusiasm would have propelled me through to where the lawn was a hayfield and the gutters flooded the basement. And I'd be shooting in the nineties on Sunday mornings with the rest of the weekend hacks.

But, that didn't happen. It's life.

Also, coming here and seeing comments like Dei's ... and just the general attitude of this board .. so very different from all those years ago. It's a snob-atorium. It reminded me why I quit playing OOTP for several years. I was running a league and it was people just like that, and others here, that made me realize what the type of people are that hang-on and worship and thrive on anything that can make them look superior to you.

Man, I SO don't need those socially malfunctioned individuals in my life. Something's gone wrong with them in their real life, something bad, and they come on here to vent it entirely anonymously. That's cool. Maybe it keeps them from shooting up a school or something, who knows? Doesn't mean I need to be a part of it.

Nobody has been on this board longer than me. Not any bully around that makes people feel so very worthless when they are just coming in to the community. But, how many ?posts have I made? 7,156? Man, to make 7,000 posts to a forum, you pretty much gotta be living in your mom's basement and eating Hot Pockets.

There's life outside going on. There was a window where I could have got pulled in again and probably would have loved it.

With this release date and the excitement of a new season gone, my enthusiasm for wading through this bent community and for playing a baseball game in general, well, that window closed. It's over. There's too much else going on outside and in life. A good marketer will strike when the fevered pitch of relevancy is stoked to the highest level. It's the reason why The Show and 2K release when they do. They have multi-million dollar agencies that tell them that "this" is the time.

Nearly two months after that time, I'm going golfing if I get some free time. I might catch up with the game, if it's out then, when there's too many leaves on the ground to find my ball.

..

After reading your comments, i understand why you haven't posted much over years...You appear to be the only one with a bad attidude...Why this tirade because a game isn't out when you want it. Grow up...

I was on the "old" OOTP boards, yet I have a join date on these boards of FEB 2002 instead of DEC 2001. Shrug. Maybe he was on the "old" boards too. Seems silly to get into a "pissing" match about who has been around here longer. There is a handful of us who have been around for a years, who cares? It certainly doesn't add any validity to an argument.

You realize he's winning, right?

don't hijack my thread

this is about refunds and general squaking about the lack of a release date and the injustice those who did not buy 9 are in lol

Someone said that video game companies never give you the previous product before hand, this may be true, but walk into a game store to buy Madden a month or two before the new one comes out...it is heavily discounted

This is true. But posting +0 could be seen as not agreeing with something.

Hard to disagree here - when the new version goes to beta, maybe a discount on the previous version would be in order. I would have to assume that since Markus announced OOTPX and started the beta, not many copies of OOTP9 have been sold. But if he offered you the choice - buy OOTPX at the pre-release discount, or buy both OOTP9 and OOTPX during the pre-release period for the full, non-discounted price I would imagine there would be a few buyers that would do just that. Instant gratification, get the gamer hooked while the interest level is at it's peak, and maybe sell more copies of OOTPX at the same time. I don't know how many would do this, but I don't see where Markus would lose anything by doing this.

Thanks!

Yeah sadly as each day goes by I am just getting more into other games.

Still have not received an official response from anyone in the company yet about my original question

I have seen this thread, and we're pondering how this works - for us, it ties into our relationships with the licensing companies as well as our own opinions. It's actually not a question that has come up before. (Which, I guess, is a good thing. )

Thanks Steve

You know I have been diehard OOTP for years, I just feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place

Hi folks,

So, the official line here is that the 14-day money back guarantee is from the date of purchase, not the date the game is available. Now, a little exposition on that:

The 14-day window is intended primarily to address issues that are more "purchase" oriented than "product" oriented. That is, you mistakenly bought two copies, you bought a copy and your wife had already gotten you one for your birthday, you bought a copy for PC and then switched to a Mac, some significant financial issue has cropped up and you no longer want to purchase the game, etc.

We DO offer refunds on a case-by-case basis, even after the 14-day guarantee period, but typically we ask for an opportunity to resolve whatever issue you are facing. For example, if you want a refund because there's a bug that prevents you from playing the game at all, then we'd like an opportunity to resolve that bug before refunding your money.

As another example, if someone preordered, then was never able to get the game installed two months later, due to repeated and unresolvable issues, of course we would offer that person a refund even though the 14-day money-back guarantee is up!

The point here is that the official response is that someone in afail's situation does not automatically qualify for a refund, but we're always willing to talk offline to people with special circumstances and act accordingly.

Hope that makes sense.

Steve

What about a situation where you've preordered a product and decide, before the product is available, that you just aren't interested any more? Or does that fall exclusively within the 14 day limit?
