Refund policy question

Hey all,

I don't want to sound like a complainer or anything and I realize releasing a game is no easy task.

With that in mind, I was wondering what the refund policy is on my pre-order? Next Saturday I am going to be taking a 10 hour car trip and I essentially bought the game to play on this trip. I guess I thought it would be out sooner.

I don't want to cancel my order now should the game come out in time, and maybe my desire to play the game will keep me patient. But in the event that it doesn't, is my preorder refundable?

Again I love OOTP and I know there is already enough pressure to get this game out, it's just that this is the one time I actually would have the time to play this game heavily..

Im a little confused here. Are you saying you will only play the game on the trip? If you find you enjoy the game wouldnt the other 355 days be enough?
Im sure a lot of people had plans to play the game along with the start of the MLB season as well. I can maybe see a refund if you dont like the game but
im just not sure you would get a refund because you planned a trip. Since there hasnt been a set release date.

Well, because if you played for the whole trip, you would play it for 10 hours, leaving roughly 8.750 hours in the rest of the year when you would you play it for less than 10 hours.

lol - yeah thats a lot of hours that would feel empty without OOTP for sure!

I believe their return policy is 14 days.

What is OOTP Developments' return policy? How do I get a refund?

Im pretty sure that since he has received nothing for his money as of yet, h could get a refund if he wants one.

Why don't you just play OOTP 9 on the trip? I play it on mine still.

Keep us updated on how easy or hard this went. Summer's coming fast and there's a thousand things to do then ... my baseball gaming enthusiasm was exceptionally long this year, all the way in to May.

However, it's now passed. I'm within a couple days of just moving on. I'll check back around Sept. 15th for the pennant drives.

See here is where I think the team went wrong...

I did not buy V9 last year because I could not afford it. (despite even being on the beta testing team for awhile)

So I bought X the day it went on sale (thinking it would be out by mid May). That is my fault because no date was announced.

But an option should have been offered to buy 9 with a free upgrade to 10 or buy a V9 license for $10 more or something. Instead, you have created this base of users who have no OOTP at all. Unless we invest another $40, we have no league to play to tide us over.

Microsoft has the right model. Starting on a certain date any computer that is purchased with Vista gets a free Windows 7 update...that way the user base gets to use the product while excitement is high instead of twiddling their thumbs.

I'm kind of interested in this as well. The email I got said I only had 7 days from the purchase to cancel the game and it has been longer than that so I figured I was just stuck with it, but after playing OOTP 9 I kinda don't really want my preorder anymore.

Apples and Oranges. I can't think of any video game company that allows you to purchase the current game and then receive the pre-order version for free when it's released, or even at a discount. The same goes for Microsoft's game division.

MS is pretty much forced to do this with their OS that is pre-installed on PC's to satisfy their OEM partners. Otherwise, once windows 7 is announced, sales for companies like DELL would drop big time during that period.

With that said, you should be able to get a refund. But, you're probably better off contacting elicence or someone affiliated with ootp directly.

Yeah, I used to be that way too. I started having kids and I'm a radio announcer and reality just kinda sets in. Mow the lawn and clean the gutters and fix the fence and on and on. I really dig playing golf, as well, so that takes up a lot of my discretionary time and income.

In April, in Cleveland, can't do much of any of the above (well, you can CONCEIVE kids ... but even then you know the due date). Now, it's just kind of passed .. digging through all it takes to get in to a game of this heavy nature. If it was a week before Opening Day or right around then, the enthusiasm would have propelled me through to where the lawn was a hayfield and the gutters flooded the basement. And I'd be shooting in the nineties on Sunday mornings with the rest of the weekend hacks.

But, that didn't happen. It's life.

Also, coming here and seeing comments like Dei's ... and just the general attitude of this board .. so very different from all those years ago. It's a snob-atorium. It reminded me why I quit playing OOTP for several years. I was running a league and it was people just like that, and others here, that made me realize what the type of people are that hang-on and worship and thrive on anything that can make them look superior to you.

Man, I SO don't need those socially malfunctioned individuals in my life. Something's gone wrong with them in their real life, something bad, and they come on here to vent it entirely anonymously. That's cool. Maybe it keeps them from shooting up a school or something, who knows? Doesn't mean I need to be a part of it.

Nobody has been on this board longer than me. Not any bully around that makes people feel so very worthless when they are just coming in to the community. But, how many ?posts have I made? 7,156? Man, to make 7,000 posts to a forum, you pretty much gotta be living in your mom's basement and eating Hot Pockets.

There's life outside going on. There was a window where I could have got pulled in again and probably would have loved it.

With this release date and the excitement of a new season gone, my enthusiasm for wading through this bent community and for playing a baseball game in general, well, that window closed. It's over. There's too much else going on outside and in life. A good marketer will strike when the fevered pitch of relevancy is stoked to the highest level. It's the reason why The Show and 2K release when they do. They have multi-million dollar agencies that tell them that "this" is the time.

Nearly two months after that time, I'm going golfing if I get some free time. I might catch up with the game, if it's out then, when there's too many leaves on the ground to find my ball.

No. The board used to be far snobbier than it is now. It was also higher in class and quality, but things change and life moves on.

Let's do the math that you seem unwilling or unable to do. I've been on this version of the OOTP forums for 90 months, or roughly 2739.75 days. Now when I compare that half hour and my five minutes of OOTP a day and my half hour of reading news online to the grown man next door who plays HALO online twelve to sixteen hours a day every day I feel pretty good about how much time I spend online.
