I always get a bit confused at this time of year.

First, the only time commitment that was given was "Spring". Last I checked, the summer solstice is still almost a month and a half away.

Second, the game is never released by MLB opening day. Besides, why does it matter if the game is out right when MLB baseball starts? I would rather see the new game come out at the very end of the season so that I have a new version ready for the long dreary off-season and winter. Right now I am focused on the real game.

Third, which would you rather have. A buggy and incomplete game that gets released early, or a more robust and finished product that comes out a bit later?

Personally, I just sit back and wait. I purposely don't pre-order the game because I think that the full price is still a bargain for the amount I get out of the game over the year. Markus deserves full price for his fantastic work.

This is not true, there was a day when it was. Only the last couple years have we seen the date start slipping back. Which probably has alot to do with the game becoming more complex each year.

I am not complaining here just pointing out that there was a time when it was out before or very shortly after opening day. I am sure some on here can point to the specific versions.

I am just glad that we got some news to keep us all at ease for a week or so before we start to lose it again.

For instance it appears by going back to some of my emails that OOTP7 was released on March 23rd before opening day and only 2 versions ago.

Glad to hear it's feature-complete. Squish those bugs and release a nice, polished product and I'll be happy whenever you get it out to us!

Thats also thanks to the fact the developpers listen to the community and try to intergrate what they want year after year instead of simply planning out thier own 'to do' list ans seeing how it will fly on release day!!

I mean they might be able to hit the MLB opening day, but yuod get vanilla... I want sprinkles...

Thanks for the update. I hadn't played since ootp6, so waiting patiently for 10 after downloading 9 and playing trial, now I'm hooked, halfway through my season when trial ended... I need to have my ootp!

Thanks for the update, really looking forward to it. Alot of debate on the boards about the release and I think Markus (who I'm assuming is the developer) is right to take his time, making sure the game works properly. I also play FM and sometimes you get some glaring errors with that game before the first patch. I think alot of it depends on what type of gamer you are. If you're someone just looking to win 10 World Series in a row with the Yankees, then you probably won't mind the bugs in the beginning. But for people who actually take alot of time studying the aspects of the game, you want it to be as good as possible the first time round.

I took liberties with your quote in order to post the observation that he has never been as bad as this:

What is your point? I always get confused by people who think they have the perfect approach to game-buying and are confused that others might be different from them.

The game could be released by Opening Day if its development was started earlier. If the 10 months between the release of 10 and 11 is not enough to get 11 done by Opening Day, then skip a year, or dial back on a few enhancements.

The point is that there are many gamers, myself included, whose enthusiasm for baseball and a new sim peaks around Opening Day. Is that really difficult to understand?

It's terrific that you are different and will buy the game whenever it happens to be released for full price.

Obviously you haven't been playing long. It won't work right. The next step will be the public beta version, then the patch, than the next beta testing, then the next patch. Some people figure as long as it's a beta anyway, release it and get the testing started.
