Stadium Ratings Creation-have a question
I'm working on modifying a stadium rating .xls file to add in altitude for creation. I ran Coors Field in one and this is what I recieved for ratings:
2B 3B RBA RHR LBA LHR 123 123 78 68 74 60 Reading an old Baseball Abstract, Bill James mentioned the Work of a Dick O'Brien and work he did on the Texas league. It seems in the 70's and early/mid 80's the stadiums were virtually identical, save for elevation (range from 20 ft above to 3700 ft above sea level). If anyone knows where I can find Texas League stats (already tried the league website) I could modify the stadium ratings file to include this information. This, I think would be great for Fictional players who use MLB cities. If I use Coors, I don't want the rating built off of what the Rockies did there, I want it to be built off the stadium itself. |

The only sources of info on the Texas league that I found were couple of books on Amazon by Bill O'Neal.
The Texas League - A Century of Baseball has stats in the appendix. There is another book by O'Neal that is out of print and without a description, but it may help too. Try your local library first. They may have the book which would save you the cost of buying it. |
