Incorporating NCAA Play

I'm playing a custom league that dates back to the 19th century. Eventually, I want to incorporate NCAA college baseball into this world. I'm wondering, though, when should I begin college play? How would I format the NCAA league? How many schools/conferences could I fit, and which ones should I pick?

On a more basic level, is it feasible to incorporate NCAA baseball into an OOTP world?

I'll let someone more experienced answer the main question, becuase I do not know the ins and outs of switching to/(or adding if you are already using a HS league) a feeder league (which is what I am guessing you are wanting to do) in the middle of a game.

I can let you know that I have a HS and NCAA feeder league for my game and I am happy with it. I like my draftees to have real experience that I can see and go back to as I draft them.

So it is definitely feasible to do. I'm just not sure about the logistics of changing to it in the middle of a game. As for which teams to use, just use whatever teams you want to. The team name is only that... a name. It doesn't predict success or failure of the team as a whole or its players. Personally I used some of the traditional powers plus some colleges I like just for personal reasons.

Theoretically you could use as many teams as you want. The main question you want to ask yourself is what happens to the players after their NCAA years. Are they Free Agents right away or are they going into the draft pool? Either way you will want to be aware of how many players you are adding to that particular pool (draft or FA) so you don't have too many or too few players available.
