I hate seeing D Baily in the box scores; it's just wrong. It's A Baily.

Someone should fix the internet.

An unheralded nonroster invitee to major-league camp who hadn't pitched in relief before last summer is now a member of Oakland's bullpen, and the A's first baseman of last year will open 2009 in the minors.

Andrew Bailey, a 24-year-old right-hander, gave up one run all spring and earned a spot on the A's Opening Night roster, announced after Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Giants.

"Not being on the (40-man) roster, I would say, 'No way,' " Bailey said of his chances of making the club at the start of camp. Bailey will wear No. 40.

Naw, I'm calling it. Mr. Bailey will be the A's closer by the end of the year.

For those of you that haven't had the chance, watch this kid pitch.

He's throwing a cutter that's touching 98(!) from the stretch, a pretty slick curveball, and he also has a 4 seamer and a changeup he can feature.

Andrew Bailey is love.

Are you on the Bailey for starter bandwagon, mikev? As hard as he throws, I think he's better served as a 1-2 inning setup man.

Andrew Bailey has just been put on the spot - tie game, bottom of eighth in (New) Yankee Stadium, facing the heart of the order in Damon, Teixeira, and Posada.

EDIT: After walking Damon, he gets Tex, Posada, and Cano into three harmless outs and we go to the ninth still tied!

Bailey gets some love from ESPN:

But since the entire planet has overlooked the spectacular work of the pride of Voorhees, N.J., Oakland reliever Andrew Bailey, I'm aspiring to correct that oversight. How 'bout these numbers: 15 2/3 innings, three hits, 18 strikeouts. He leads all AL relievers in strikeouts. Right-handed hitters are 0-for-26 against him with 10 whiffs. And only once in 11 appearances has the first batter he's faced reached base. Not bad for a guy who was a Midland Rockhound at this time last year.

Had to update, since AB just got in work against the Snakes (I just happened to have the game on the radio when he was in). One run in two innings, nearly got taken yard by The Justin Upton in the 9th, but [FONT=Verdana]then struck out Drew and Reynolds to keep the A's tied. Go, AB!
