How to Import Real MLB Roster to Fictional League?

I am in the process of trying to recreate a fictional league that was recently deleted. I would like to know how to upload the MLB and minor league rosters to the fictional league that I created. I have downloaded CubbieFan's 2009 roster, and would like to use that for the actual players. Thanks in advance.

Welcome veggieslave!

Do you just wanna load and play the CubbieFan's roster set?
If that is what you wanna do,

1. The mentioned roster set is a "Saved Game" File.
2. Read the manual (link) and follow the step.

OOTP Baseball Manual - Game Options

If you mean something else by your post, please let me know.

*Recreating a fictional league with MLB roster does not really make sense to me...

You should start a real roster/team league using Cubbies roster set. Once that's done, release all players and schedule inaugural draft.

Now delete/edit your teams to create the fictional ones you want. Then hold your inaugural draft and away you go.

Can you post a step-by-step process for this? I only do this every couple of years, and I remember the last time I did it, it was quite a task getting it to work. This time around, can't seem to remember how to do it, or stumble upon the right method.

What I want:

Real players, with most recent stats/rating available (like, from Cubbies roster set), with real league set ups, with all players released into a pool, so I can start my league with a full draft.

Now, if I load cubbies' roster set (using "Load Game" from the main menu), then it is April 6th, we're in the regular season, and I cannot release / draft (that option is only available pre-season), so I don't think that approach will work.

I know there is a way to get the game to use updated rosters when creating a custom game, but I cannot figure it out this time around...

Also, is there any way to just take cubbies roster, and set the date to January or some such? Seems like that would be a trivial option but after 3 hours of searching I cannot find it.

Thanks

EDIT: Oh, and if I try to save cubbies roster as a template and create a custom game from that, then I get an error that the Arizona league has an odd number of teams and I cannot continue. I can change it to 10 teams, but then it completely renames all the teams in the Arizona league and breaks the associatons.
