License question

I haven't played OOTP since OOTP6 a few years ago. These days I have two computers I regularly use, a desktop and a laptop.

Will I be able to install and play OOTP on both CPUs with a single license purchase?

Yes, as long as they are either:

a. The same operating system type (Windows, Mac, or Linux)

-or-

b. They are one Mac and one Linux

In either of those scenarios, you can use one copy of OOTP on both machines without problem!

Great! To clarify, one is XP and the other is Vista. Based on your response it
sounds like those would both qualify as "Windows" types.

Thanks! I suppose I should go pre-order!

Kee-rect! It's based on OS "type" (Windows vs Mac vs Linux) rather than specific flavor of OS (Vista, XP Pro, XP Home, etc.).

Now, a new dilemma

So I pre-ordered OOTP X, after trying the demo of OOTP 9. When I tried the demo, I played it one day, then went back to work, and now I see that it's expired. (I was hoping that the 10 "real world" days meant 10 sittings/sessions, but I cant' say that I was surprised to find that was not the case).

In these message boards, I see that it may be a while until the new version comes out.

Is there any way to have a temporary v9 license, or maybe unlimited use under terms of the demo (1.5 season limit or whatever), until the new version comes out? I tried entering my OOTPX order number into the licensing process for OOTP9, but it didn't seem to work.

I'm not inclined to pay an additional amount just to tide me over, but on the other hand, it is March and April that is the best time of year to be thinking about baseball.

Is there any way to be able to play while waiting for the release I've purchased?

You must be an Orioles fan.

(Or the Pirates, or the Padres, or...)

OOTP 5 is free if you want to venture down that path.

Mariners

(But this season is looking up thanks to a half-decent GM... gets the OOTP juices flowing, thinking about defense, rule fivers, etc).

Thanks for the tip. Is it 'modern' enough to whet my appetite? (I mean, if it's meant to run on a 386 running Win 3.1, it might not be too appealing).

It's hard to say, because I'm not quite sure which aspects of "modern" make a game appealing to you. If you're expecting a whole lot of fancy graphics, you'll be disappointed. Overall, it's still a text simulation, not a console game. You can find a lot of screenshots of OOTP 9 here. OOTP 10 won't be vastly different, visually, although it will have a new "skin" to choose from!

You can always download the OOTP 9 demo and play around with it!

Just a thought, but it would be nice to have a steep discount on OOTP 9, say for $19.95, with the $10 off a purchase of OOTP 10. Or be able to purchase both for $49.95, with OOTP10 to be delivered upon release.
