OOTP has stopped working

I've seen a couple of threads for this that have been abandoned without a resolution. I apologize if I missed the answer.

I just did a clean install of Vista Home Premium on my PC & I Installed OOTP9 & the latest patch. I was able to activate the license with no problem but when I click on "Launch," I get an error saying, "OOTP has stopped working."

I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling several times & installing on different drives (C & D) but I can't get past this error. I also get the error whether I use the shortcut or the .exe in the folder.

OOTP9 worked fine on this PC before, the only difference being a new hard drive and a clean Vista install.

System Info:

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (build 6001)
2.40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
4GB RAM

Thanks for the reply. I did that & tried running in XP compatibility mode. No luck though.

Do you have a 64 bit system?

My path on mine is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\ootp9.exe"

If you restart your computer, does it still do this. Also is your account a limited account or is it a admin?

It's an administrator account and I've rebooted several times. Could it be something from a recent Windows Update?

I suggest turning off your internet, but try closing your antivirus, and any anti spam or windows defender.

Uninstall game, then reinstall it. Then try to load it up. Make sure you are not connected to the internet after you download, and turn the anitvirus and other protection when you turn on the internet again. Sometimes a Antivirus will bother other programs.

It didn't work. I'm still getting the OOTP has stopped working error as soon as I try to start it.

Can you from the Start Menu choose the option to start OOTP with Trace Mode (it's under Tools under the OOTP menu option). This should create an ootp.log (or ootp.txt) file at the top level of My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9

If it has done this, can you rename it to something ending in .txt if it doesn't already and attach it as a reply to this thread?

Unfortunately I had given up on getting this issue resolved and I uninstalled OOTP from my desktop PC. I am now in the process of moving and my desktop PC is in storage and probably will be for another month or so. By then the new OOTP should be out. Maybe I'll have better luck with that. Thanks anyway for trying to help.
