OOTP5 FA Question

I've had the following happen to me now in two leagues: I acquire a free-agent to be during the season and when I try and negotiate an extension he responds "you had your chance...I've got better things to do then talk to you." Obviously, this is a carry over from the previous team's failed negotiations, but shouldn't this reset when the player is dealt?

just keep offering, he may only want a little more money or one more year. I've noticed it as well
