Will OOTP 10 Support 2560 x 1600 Resolution?

Title says it all. I couldn't find anything in a search so sorry if this has already been brought up.

Only if you buy me a video card and monitor that supports it, so I can test.

(Note: That was tongue in cheek. I don't have the answer for you yet. I'll see if I can find out!)

30" TFT monitors have that resolution...

Yeah, I'll add support for that.

What Markus meant was only display support. The text box for a player name will be ~1 feet long on your display. But you will not be able to save a player name with a length of 2048 characters

You could save a lot of database space if that's the case. The string length field is 4 bytes thus allowing 4294967296 character strings. Cutting that field to 2 bytes would limit you to 65536 characters in a string, and I can't see that really being an issue.

And why does the file header for the .dats have fixed length strings instead of variable??? (and why doesn't world.dat have a standard header?)

Wow, this would save 1MB per 524,288 strings!

Byte order problems, this way the headers are identical on PPC and Intel.

Are we off topic now?

D'oh... my bad maths this morning. Too many spreadsheets with figures in front of me for month beginning. I missed out kilobytes as an intermediate step.

You're right... As you were

Lets get this thread back on topic.

When is Markus going to supply these 30" LCD screens to test on? We have to be thorough

Excellent. Can I get support for my 42 inch plasma display next?

Today we've secretly replaced our boring code monkey for a standup comedian. Let's see if anyone notices...

Thanks Markus.

So I take it I'm the only lunatic here who uses a 30" monitor?
I hope this won't require too much extra effort.

My usual desktop res is 1920 x 1200, as I mainly use that high 2560 x 1600 resolution for race sims like GTR2 and GTR Evolution.

The only other text based sim that I have that supports 2560 x 1600 is Football Manager '09 and it looks fantastic.

I think Samsung might have something now for much less but I haven't researched lately.

would you consider going the other extreme? Many of us have netbooks which run 1024 x 600 resolution (or even 1024 x 576 on some, but i have 600)...

yes, it does work with astray on 1024 x 768, but could you put a native mode in for a smaller window?

No, we spell it right over here. If 'math' were the correct contraction of mathematics it would have to end in a . (period) because the last letters don't match

Or it could be a problem with the spellings they use in the UK.
