A few questions before I start a uni
Hey guys,
I am going to start a universe but I had a few questions first of all. Before I ask these questions, let me give you an idea of what I plan on doing. I want to start my universe as of current time. Let's say February 21st, 2009 was the last active day leading into the universe. I want to manually give everyone their correct records as of now. My idea is to launch a universe on the basis that the WBC (World Boxing Commission) has bought out all the other organizations and is now running the show. The logic behind that will be that it was the reason they had stockpiled all those sanctioning fees with bogus interim and emeritus belts as well as all the other BS. I wanted to have the WBC be the world rankings, with minor belts under the WBC covering various regions. That is easy enough to setup from what I have seen, I should be able to figure it out. My first question is, if I set everyone's records to reflect reality, can I reflect them to fight based on their current career stage? Let's say I wanted to put Holyfield at the end of his career, do all I need to do is set him to Post-Prime or End and he will fight like a man at the end of his career? Or do I need to change his ratings as well to reflect a "shot" or old fighter? This question applies to young fighters as well, let's say I wanted to put Matt Korobov in the game, do I set him to Beginning or Pre-Prime and that solves it, or do I need to set his ratings to reflect what he is at the current time? Those are my main questions and if someone could help me out it would be highly appreciated. |

The default ratings for all the fighters are at prime. If you change them to a different career stage the game will generate a new rating for them. It recalculates each of the attributes to reflect this. As an example a fighter who is a prime 11 might be a 3 at beginner and end and a 7 at pre-prime and post-prime.
So, yes, if you simply change the fighter's career stage to reflect where they are at today's date it should be fairly accurate. Others here have more knowledge of how the ratings change than I do, though. The easiest way to do it would be to group them according to the different career stages and then use the mass edit function to change them to the applicable career stage. |

Thanks for the response.
This game requires some work to get it to do what you like, but it looks as though there is nothing this game cannot do if you put enough time in, and that is what I like. Can't wait to put a review together once I get through some game play and whatnot. Give me a week or two and I will have a write up ready. |

Can you get the rankings to change when you manually alter the career stage?
I'm not using the auto ager and the ratings for the fighters don't change if I alter from prime to post prime or end.

Are you using the mass edit function to change the career stages? if you are only changing the career stage of the default rating it doesn't chnage the attribute values. You need to select the fighter, select mass edit function from the menu and choose "change selected fighters to this career stage".

If you are doing manual changes on a fighter-by-fighter basis, the attached might help you out.

Set everyone's resistance to cuts to 1 or cuts will ruin your universe like they have mine. Set the fouls to seldom or DQs will also ruin your universe like they did mine.

LOL, I can relate - I hate it when cuts stop my fights. Especially when it's a contender & I'm trying to build up his record.
