Using CF2009_v3, Staff Payroll on the Front Office page seems to be grossly inflated. For example, with ARI it shows at some ~$13m with scouts and coaches on (~$11m with just coaches on) whereas when I manually add all the salaries from MLB to rookie ball I get some ~$3m. I am told that this applies to other teams as well.
I just created a new league using the MLB quickstart and the issue is not there so maybe this is just a CF2009_v3.0 issue. CubbyFan ... can you please look into this. Last edited by aewin; 02-24-2009 at 09:01 PM. |

To be honest, I'm not sure what would cause it. All teams seem to be within the same range of salary $, so I'm probably not going to put in a ton of time to fix it for this version because it's hardly a game killer.
The dollars available in game have been set to be 2008 end of season payroll + that staff number so they're all as accurate as they're going to be, regardless of whether the staffing $$ is inflated or not. Last edited by CubbyFan23; 02-24-2009 at 09:22 PM. |

Could this be posted somewhere that supports resuming, please? I've twice waited on it for over two hours, only to have my download interrupted when I got between 95% and 99% done, and then I have to start all over again. The second time, I was only .25 MB from completion, having downloaded for 2 hrs, 18 minutes, and 11 seconds. That site is not at all dial-up friendly.

The only possible problem I could see would be the issue with scouting, but that's because the file isn't set to run with scouting on. If you would like to, all you would need to do is bump each team's available $$ up by $2.5M or so when you turn on scouting. The way it's setup in game does not make playing with coaches unplayable at all. It's not any different than if the number was not inflated, because I've adjusted the total team payrolls to take that number into account. I'm not sure why any online leagues would turn coaches off because of that, because that would make no sense. Last edited by CubbyFan23; 02-25-2009 at 12:31 AM. |

it'd be cool if we started a thread with some players career stats posted just to see how some of it would play out.

Don't get me wrong Cubby I think you do a great job with the roster set and I really appreciate your efforts, but it seems to me from your answer that the roster set only works properly with coaches on and scouting off:

No problem!
It's always going to be an issue having to manually edit financials when you turn on coaches/scouting because unfortunately OOTP does not turn down the overall budget when you switch any of those on/off... the budget just is what it is in game unless you edit it. The only reason we're seeing it now moreso is because the number is a bit inflated. If coaches/scouting is changed, I would always recommend editing numbers because whether it's 2M or 10M, that budget number doesn't change unless you edit it when options are switched around. I'm pretty sure the cause of the problem is "ghost" GMs/trainers on all of the minor league teams with salary, but I'm not aware of any way to remove them without taking way more time than it would be worth. |

Finally broke the secret behind prospect rankings
All of the individual team top 20s should be almost identical now to what they are IRL. Not sure how that will reflect to the top systems and top 100 prospects, but I think it should be a LOT better. Hoping to get this puppy out tomorrow night or Monday, I'll let you guys know. Just have to get through re-ranking prospects and it's done. |

Haha of course -- I always was under the assumption that it was largely based off potential, and that current talent didn't have much to do with it. While this IS true, where the player currently is also largely effects the ranking.
This occurs even if you have someone who should be in rookie league and you manually put him in AAA, he will be overvalued on the prospect rankings. Probably something that needs to be checked out by Markus in that respect, but I do like the respect that a guy who's in AAA vs a guy in Single-A at the same age, the AAA guy is ranked higher. That was screwing me up for a while, because if you change current ratings and the computer automanages the player to a higher or lower level, he'll shift on the rankings. |

Unfortunately I could never figure out a way to fix the Yankee problem, BUT the good news is the history is still in there. It just got separated into post 2008 and pre 2008... sucks, but not much to do about it. If you want to see pre 2008, you just need to enter the 2007 league page and click on the Yankees from there. I'll figure out a way to link them for our league when I upload those HTMLs for our league.
![]() Still editing prospects, about seven teams left. Might finish it tonight, but I'm guessing if you held a gun to my head, I'd say tomorrow. Prospect lists look awesome now that they're all correct... unless you're Houston. ![]() All Major Leaguers now have their correct numbers as well for those of you who always wanted that in. Not sure if I'm going to get MLB pitchers pitch types in by tomorrow, but if not, that'll be a little separate release later in the week. Tomorrow all ratings will be finalized, prospects finalized, etc. though. Last edited by CubbyFan23; 03-01-2009 at 07:52 PM. |
