*sigh* Now what? Inaugural Draft 2X?

Hello. Semi-new customer (maybe about a week old now) and another problem.

Decided to try and create a Custom League since I was having crashes with Custom Rosters (CubbyFan). I then chose the MLB league template and added in two feeder leagues (1 High School/1 College).

1) I completed the Inaugural Draft (200 rounds) -- no problemo.

2) Requested the AI setup all rosters with the drafted players via League Setup -- no problemo.

3) Saved the game and left for ~4 real life days.

4) Came back and manually adjusted my organization's rosters to my liking and started advancing days to start the season.

5) Its now January 3rd ingame and to my surprise, BAM a message to my e-mail saying:

MAL News: Inaugural Draft

The names of 0 players have been tossed into the hat blah blah blah.

Huh? I just finished my Inaugural Draft... whats going on?

So, I'm forced to go to the draft screen where the draft order is blank. No teams listed. Says 155 eligible players and 80 rounds. 80 rounds is the setup of my First Year Player Draft. But why? That draft is clearly setup as June 1st in options.

Any attempt to Continue Draft results in crash.

What do I do? No way in hell I'm starting over and drafting 200 rounds again.

Things I've tried:

1) My saved game (Jan 2nd) is before I receive the e-mail for the Draft so I went to setup and disabled Amateur Draft hoping to get by Jan 3rd. Didn't work still prompted for draft. Draft-Type is displayed as First Year Player Draft.

Created another new custom league and decided to give it one more go.

Finished 200 rounds on Jan 1st and the same problem... a second Inaugural Draft on Jan 3rd... 80 rounds that cannot get past without crashing.

This is becoming pointless.

I've tried all sorts of things (following your instructions) and I cannot get a second inaugural draft to appear.

The only way an inaugural draft appears is if you release all players and schedule one.

I'll keep on trying to see if I can replicate this.

Yep, though I made sure not to do that. I still had full rosters when the 2nd Inaugural Draft appeared.

I actually managed to get past then 2nd Draft by relinquishing my coaching/GM of my team to the AI and simming one day. Somehow the AI got past the 2nd Inaugural Draft that I couldn't (pesky AI of course rearranged my entire roster ). Then I simply retook control of my team again.

The 2nd draft on January 3rd appears to somehow tied to the Amateur Draft scheduled for June 1st because:

1) I go in and modify the rounds to 80 down to 1 and it was reflected in the January 3rd second Inaugural Draft.

2) Oddly, trying to disable the Amateur Draft though didn't prevent the second Inaugural Draft from popping up.

If its of any help I still have one of my season's saved where this 2X Inaugural Draft occurs if you'd like that I could .zip it up.

Either way, since this Inaugural Draft 2X happened to me twice in back-to-back attempts I'm a little curious and later today I'm going to retrace my steps again and see if I can't recreate it one more time and jot down my steps and settings.

It doesn't look like much progress was made except with what has all ready been suggested.

Good to see I'm not crazy and wasn't alone in this problem. Looks like I just need better skills using the ole' Search feature in the message board [would have saved me lots of heartache ]

Can you start a game and leave the number of draft rounds at 25 for the Amateur draft (which I believe will be the default) and see if the problem occurs.

If you can zip your files up and FTP them to us as per the instructions in the How To FTP Files To Us thread that would be great.

Yeah, that's the setting I used in the first place as I never modified any of the default settings in this step of the wizard. Why, in-game the Amateur Draft gets set to 80 rounds by default instead of the 25 setup in the wizard... I dunno.

Its a saved game on Jan. 2nd right after the first Inaugural Draft. Sim one day and the 2nd Inaugural Draft should come up.

I have the same problem. I am very frustrated as I spent a lot of time setting up my league only to find that it crashes on 3 Jan with a ridiculous second draft. Oh, problem still exists with OOTP X. I'll try to reference this thread over there.
