'preciate it, TC ...
For those in the league who keep checking back, I sent a second draft of the Constitution out this morning. Anybody interested in a team can still leave their e-mail address here and we'll get one for them. Still 50-plus teams available. I'll keep posting news here when something breaks.

Here are the semifinalists in each conference tournament. The team with the "x" beside it is the only unbeaten team remaining.
SEC Georgia vs. x-Ole Miss Auburn vs. Alabama ACC x-Georgia Tech vs. Miami Clemson vs. Maryland Big 12 Kansas vs. x-Nebraska Oklahoma vs. Missouri x-Oregon vs. Washington Oregon St. vs. California Boston College, Navy and North Dakota are all taken. Washington is now available to somebody who wants them and we'll give up either Oklahoma or North Carolina to a caring owner. More updates later. The Mid-Majors disk is in the process of being created at this moment.

Strange, but the leagues were really pretty balanced. 200 interleague games for each conference and SEC won 106, most of anybody, and Pac-10, which has quite a few near the top, won a league-low 95.
Bama went 18-18 in the league, tied for fifth and lost the tie-breaker and was still only three games behind first place. Obviously, Bama performed well outside the league (15-5). Thus, we have the No. 6 seed in the conference and a very high ranking overall in a league with very little deviation. I don't think this will be a problem for our owned teams as we begin playing. Since we will take the cream of each year's recruiting crop (unless we're all a buncha boneheads!) then the owned teams will stretch that deviation factor out a lot more and we won't see as much strange stuff as this.

Sounds good
I'd be interested in joining, I'd like the University of Minnesota, but my guess is the are taken, so if they are, I'd take North Carolina.

Minnesota is taken, but I'll put you down for UNC and send you out the updated Constitution.
And Tony, you get your choice of UA or ASU.

I'd be interested in joining this league if Notre Dame is available. The pride of midwest college baseball!

Done ... added to mailing list everybody but North Carolina and I'll add them when I hear back ...
Working on the mid-majors' first season to catch up to the conference tournaments from the Major schools. Conference champs have been crowned: SEC-Auburn ACC-Georgia Tech Big 12- Nebraska Pac-10-Oregon Biggest news is that an Auburn starting pitcher blew out his arm in the conference tournament and won't be available. Ole Miss is the first hard-luck story of the league. We're only taking 20 teams from these four conferences and Ole Miss, it turned out, needed to win the tourney to make it. The Rebels got beat in the one-game final and finished 22nd. Florida was 21st. All four tournaments went the full 15 games, meaning everybody took a loss somewhere. Here are the 20 teams getting the invites: 1. Washington 39-22 2. Oregon 39-22 3. Alabama 35-25 4. Georgia Tech 35-27 5. California 36-24 6. Clemson 36-26 7. Auburn 35-27 8. Nebraska 33-28 9. Maryland 34-26 10. Texas A&M 34-25 11. Duke 34-25 12. Tennessee 32-27 13. USC 33-25 14. Georgia 32-28 15. Kansas 32-29 16. Texas Tech 30-28 17. Baylor 31-28 18. Missouri 31-29 19. LSU 31-28 20. Oklahoma 30-32 Advice to future owners: Don't get near the bubble or you're gonna get popped. Commissioner Charlie and I have about decided that, although imperfect, the game's power ratings are the way to go. Where the owners will come in is in voting for an overall Top 25 based on the separate Major-college poll and the Mid-Majors poll. It probably won't mean much, but we do aim to have weekly rankings. Have you noticed that Charlie is kind of like Teller in this set-up? Of course, I'm not at all like Penn. He cusses too much ![]() I'm out for the weekend, but keep the e-mails coming and I'll try and get back to everybody.

I'd be interested in Michigan. They have probably been taken though...
Would be interested in a mid-major team. No real school preference. Tillison27@wwdb.org |

Stanford, Michigan and BYU are all gone.
Quick Mid-Majors news: Vanderbilt won the Big Ten (I put them and Kentucky in the Big Ten cuz they supposedly have programs) with a 41-15 record and will carry the top seed into the tournament. Rutgers won the Big East; Nevada the "Missouri Valley" (which is really the WAC) and Fullerton State won the Big West. I'll play those conference tournaments and then see if I can import the 32 regional qualifiers into a separate "CWS" league. Anybody with any pointers on doing that? Also, for future reference to someone who might need to know this, it is possible to schedule games for the day you are playing. In my conference tournaments, I need to have "if" games played on the final day and, as long as you don't play out the whole days' schedule, you can do this by scheduling a game before the day is completed.

Tough crowd.
In spite of that, I've reached the point where I need to import the 32 teams into a CWS file. Here they are in order of seeding, just in case folks are still interested: Region 1 Washington, Duke, North Dakota and UC-Irvine Region 2 Oregon, Air Force, Tennessee and Oklahoma Region 3 Alabama, Rutgers, USC and Missouri Region 4 Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Georgia and Fresno State Region 5 California, Maryland, Ohio State and Baylor Region 6 Clemson, SW Missouri State, Kansas and LSU Region 7 Auburn, St. John's Texas Tech and Illinois Region 8 Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Fullerton St. and Nevada

I'll get that e-mail with the updated Constitution to you as soon as I can ...
I'm on the road at a baseball tournament and should return tonight. Minnesota did not make the regionals and is in the Big 10, which for this league's purposes is a mid-majors conference. |
