With a pitching staff including Steve Carlton,Jim Kaat and Jim Lonborg,you would think that if the Phils threw a no hitter,it would be with one of these more famous pitchers,but true to form,this game continues to surprise me as Wayne Twitchell,my #4 starter who actually shares the #4 spot with two other pitchers pitched a gem of a game facing the minimum 27 batters while no-hitting the Atlanta Braves.The only blemishes on Twitchell's record were two walks to Darrell Evans who was immediately doubled up on the next at bat.It took nearly 6 seasons of play for one of my players to finally achieve the feat.

In 1972 that really is amazing. I saw Wayne Twitchell pitch against the Expos at Veterans Stadium in 1972 when those two teams were fighting for cellar-dwelling rights, and he was terrible (which was somewhat worse than the rest of his season).

He had two really good years in 1973 and 1976. I had him on my Longball (card game) Phillies club in '76, and traded him to the Dodgers for Steve Garvey. He was the best combination starter/reliever in our league (twelve teams) that season.

{As an aside, that trade really solidified my infield, giving me Gary Carter behind the plate, Garvey, Dave Cash (best defensive second baseman and best hit-and-run man in the league), Larry Bowa (great defense and finished third behind Mickey Rivers and Davey Lopes in steals two seasons running) and Schmidt. We won two regular season titles and two World Series. …and I'm off-topic again.}

Twitchell was definitely one of those guys who when they were good they are real good and when they're bad,they're real bad.

Not quite a 7-hit game but Ted Carl of the Harrisburg Senators in my Keystone Baseball League went 6-for-6 and hit for the cycle - 1 single, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs with 6 RBI and 5 runs scored. That's the best game I've ever seen in that league.

Last night - the AI tore me apart. Well, their leadoff man, Colby Rasmus did.

He went 5-5 with 3 HRs, 2 2B's, and a SB.

I lost 9-7.

Ah, Hard-Hittin' Mark Whiten...he hits just 25 HR that year, but he hits 4 of them in that one game.

Playing a game, the computer had a guy go 5-5 with 1 2B, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 6 R and a BB against me. The guy was in his 3rd game in the majors and had never hit more than 8 HR in a season from HS (feeder) on up through the system (9 seasons).

I currently have an 18 game winning streak in progress.

And I just had a pitcher pitch 12 shutout innings....his game score was 101.

I've never seen a game score over 100 before then, and I've been playing OOTP almost a year.

(Thousands of OOTP players) * (dozens or hundreds or thousands of seasons simmed by each player) * (almost infinite customization options including run contexts and schedule lengths and spread of talent within leagues) = Almost anything can and will happen.

In my Greenland Winter Ice Baseball League I've had many players with seven or eight hits in a game, maybe even more than that. Not too surprising when the batting champ often hits .700. 30, 40 or even 50 runs in a game isn't uncommon. I've also seen players in that league make eight or nine errors in a game. We've also had several single-game attendance numbers of less than zero.

Well my closer Benoit Tessier has broken the record and is still going with 86 consecutive saves.

I use default settings all around.

Save streak blown at 84. Had a 2-0 lead into the 9th, my starter had a no-no going, walk, error, first runner to 3rd, ground out scores a run.

So, one out, runner on second, I leave the starter in for the no-no. Gives up an infield single so.....

In comes Tessier, runners 1st and 3rd, only one out. Sac fly ties the game, streak gone.

Tough situation, but I am, and have been, using the him the same way I always would have.

First off, where did you get those logos, Phillie Fever?

Second, my favorite in game achievement was actually losing a close game seven in the world series to a team I had managed two years before. There was some satisfaction in knowing that I'd had a hand in creating the two best teams in the league, even though I lost to the team that fired me. It was also the Cubs beating the Red sox in the series in 1934, we'd had a 3-1 lead and blew it in ridiculous fashion, which made me think the Curse of the Bambino must be programmed in, especially because the babe was still playing for the yanks in my sim then.

third, Lloyd Waner was angrily demanding trades from my team and having a horrible season. So I traded him away, got much more value for him, then beaned him the first time we played him. The pitch ended up breaking his jaw and ending his career. No one has demanded a trade since.

I just had a two-hitter today from Gary Bell with no walks and 15K's in my 1961 Indians solo league. Both hits were singles by Brooks Robinson.

The 0 walks might be the most amazing part of the feat.

(He had 100 BB in 228 IP in RL 1961)
