Custom Leagues

Hey guys. I'm sure there is a way to do this but I cannot figure out. I would like to have an eight team league but have a fantasy draft of all the major league players. How will the financial data flesh out since obviously the payrolls are going to be huge since only the best players are getting picked?

One of the teams I want to be an all-suck squad, the rest are human owned. And it seems annoying to have to cycle through each manager for every pick. Is there an easier way to draft without changing managers every pick?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have never done such a league before, so this is just my guess...
Basically, I think below will be the way to do it.

1) You'd have to start it with using either historical database or one of the custom roster sets available on Mod section of the board.
2) Then you release all the players and dump them to the FA pool.
3) Re-structure the league to however you want it to be like, and rename them.
4) Do the initial draft.

* Team budgets as well as the market sizes will be determined based on who your team will pick in the draft. If you pick 10+ super stars (that is, if you can) your team budget will be like over 250 million dollars, and your team market size will be astronomical. Of course, this is all if you do not have the salary cap. You could change other financial settings around to control the league's financial structure. (ticket prices, media contract fee, luxury tax, average player salary based on players levels, etc)

* About the draft, you can go into the commish mode in the manager option page, and then should be able to pick players for all the teams in the league.

Wow. Thanks for the input. I'll let you know how it works.

If you have further questions regarding the custom league creations, I recommend you post them in the "OOTP-9 General Discussion" forum.
I think it is not really a "new to the game" level of question, and you will get much more attention if you go there and ask questions nicely.

That's the nice thing about this game is how easily you can customize it. I like your idea of playing an 8 team league. I think I am going to try this!

I did what was suggested but unfortunately the schedule generated had opening day and the end of the regular season on the same day. Then OOTP could take the strain anymore and booted me out to my desktop. Maybe if I lower the amount of games it will work but unfortunately you have to go through the inaugural draft until you can find out if your schedule is going to be messed up.

Did you generate the schedule, after editing the league structure?
If not, that I am sure is the reason...

Yeah I did generate the schedule. I havent had time but I think if I reduce the number of games each team plays it might work. However, I have become resigned to the fact it just might not work with this program.

If you still wanna do this, I recommend you bring this up in "OOTP-9 General Discussion" forum, as I mentioned. You will get much more (and useful) help there than you do here.
