Exporting without being commish
I'm new to version 8, we just converted from 6.5. I used the old CommishJoe stuff on the old league file, but it seems under 8 you have to have commish access (which I don't). I use the data for custom reports I've done, some are fairly complex, and it's pretty fun to play with the data.
I was wondering if there is a way to do this, or if there is a new utility that allows this to happen? I can probably get my commish to let me have access, but would rather do it without having to do that.

it can be done but i've never let it in as an option in my program as i know it's not allowed for online gms and could give them an advantage

Yes, that's the idea. It's fun to run the numbers to evaluate players outside the game. Oddly enough, I'm a database developer for a real baseball team so not having access to real data is rough for me.
Do you happen to know how it can be done? There is nothing shady about what I do with this, oddly it's just to see the game from a numbers perspective over the interface. |

I just spent some time digging around and I'm pretty sure there's no way to export the player database in an online league that has that function disabled. I mean, you could hand-enter the data (but who would want to?), but short of that or screen-scraping or using a 3rd party program to look at the contents of memory while the game is running, I think you're stuck.
If there is some way to get the player database out, I want to know about it; I was just thinking that, with the offseason coming up in my first online league, I could really use some real data mining power, rather than the wussy stuff the game allows you to do. |
