I just saw a comment on the baseball prospectus website by a "CubbyFan23." Now it all makes sense: the BP influence is the reason your roster set is so darn good. Are you as excited about the publication of the annual as I am?

Ha. This has nothing to do with this game or baseball in general, but I recently (shortly after finding this thread) saw a post on slickdeals.net by a "CubbyFan23." Small (internet) world, eh?

Cubby and I are still trying to work out the coaches issue right now. I sent him some files to try out, so hopefully that will work and he can get on updating the rosters for everyone. If what I did doesn't work then there are 2 more things that I can try before I am stumped.

Is there anyway that I could play as Billy Beane using this roster? I know I can create a new GM called Billy Beane but that is not what I want. I want to play using the settings he has set for Billy Beane. So I can play the 2009 season using the A's as Billy Beane.

Ok so heres what we got. Cubby and I have been working together to try and fix the coaches problem. Cubby had me delete all the coaches because I was one of the few ppl that didn't get errors when looking at them. I deleted every coach on personnel page and sent cubby the files. I also uploaded the file to here file upload. Now I don't think cubby can test out the files until tonight so if some ppl that where getting the error could download the file and try it out that would be great. All we need you to do is go do the same thing that caused you the error before. Post on here with your results.

The only way you would be able to do this is to still create a new manager. Then set them in commish mode. Then on the top right of the screen where it says act as select oakland. Now you can control them and still have Beane on there team. Thats about the closest you will get to being him without stealing his real identity.

The file works for me but is this the file with the updated transactions or just the plain test file..

I have a couple of questions.

1. Where you getting the coaches error before? If not then go try and look at the available coaches and see if it crashes.

2. Are you on a mac or pc?

And to answer your question about it being updated. No its not the update roster set its just a test set to see if we got the bug worked out. As soon as the bug is worked out I'm sure cubby will update the set when he has time.

Im using pc vista and yes it crashed for me before when i go and look for new coaches there is none but it doesnt crash.

Great!!!! I'll email cubby and tell him to try the whole file and then hopefully it will work.

I have an updated file with transactions that I'll plug this coaches file into tonight and get it out along with the old "pre-Free Agency" file.

Also working on a top secret project that I may be able to put into this set soon.

great job you two! Cant wait to see the file. Since I am at work. Also I was wondering if there will be an up to date file with players signed to there new team? Such as CC to the yanks and Johnson to the Giants! I am eager to start a league after being in several for mulitple ootp versions. As I started on 5 and now I am eager to start my own league. Which will be like the real MLB structure with high school/college feeder league. Also have a season or two depending on how the league feels I want to add to expansion teams to the game and the people in the league will determinen where the expansion teams will be plus their mascot and minor league teams.

It indeed does work, Airmen has saved everyone here a huge headache. Thanks dude.

Since the coaches pool is empty, before I release it tonight I'll try to throw in a few real life FA coaches. I was wanting to clear out the pool anyway and make it all real coaches in the entire set, so this has saved a ton of time!

Awesome!! It looks like I'll probably be out of school the next two days due to an Ice Storm so this should give me something to do! I can't wait!
