Reading these posts speculating on how much $$ Markus makes makes me

I think I may try and give Front Office manager a shot this year. It is reasonably priced and could have what I want as far as in game graphics/presentation.

I would say that OOTP8 was the expansion pack of OOTP 2007 just like OOTP 6.5 was the expansion pack of OOTP 6.

No need to worry. There was no OOTP 8.5.

8.5 was the name a few users tagged the $20 patch for OOTP 8. If you had OOTP 2007, you could patch up to have all bug fixes that OOTP 8 had. However, if you paid $20 for OOTP 8, you would get a few new features.

It was once mentioned by a user that calling the $20 OOTP 8 OOTP 8.5 would make more sense, since the patched version of OOTP 2007 is essentially OOTP 8 without the new features. Just a bunch of confusion really.

Thanks. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep up.

Like with 9, when I read there was upgrade from 9.2.12 to 9.2.13, I was still on 9.2.11 and knew nothing of 9.2.12.

Oh, we're already on OOTP 9.3. You didn't know?

Of course, I'm kidding. The top page hadn't been updated to follow these new patches and I think that didn't help with solving this dilemma. Many people in leagues that I'm in aren't aware of the changes. Even commissioners have gone on for weeks not knowing that everyone in their league has patched up.

Thankfully, you didn't necessarily have to to run a league, but it just goes to show that the forums hadn't been informative enough.

Hard to believe those numbers. It sells 26 times as many copies as OOTP, which is regarded by most as a superior product???

Whatever the case, I think OOTP sells quite a bit more than the guess of 5000 copies per year. Which is great for Marcus and the team.
I believe I read somewhere that for BBM sold in Walmart, Best Buy, Etc that Clay gets very little.. I believe it was less than $2.

It would be great for people who play console games, of whom I am not one.

The question was not really about how much money Markus makes (which is his own business, and not ours), it was whether OOTP Developments is his full-time job, or whether he needs to do other work to support himself.

Of course the answer to whether he needs to work another job is probably dependent on how much money OOTP Developments brings in, and that launched the line of reasoning.

Personally, I am very curious about OOTP's sales numbers. I've always wondered how many units it moved, and I always will wonder that. But they keep it secret, which is their perogative.

Draft Day Sports

If you get a free demo of Draft Day Pro Basketball or Draft Day College Basketball you may get a really good sense for what the Baseball game will be like. Affter checking out either Basketball games, you'll quickly see some similarities with OOTP (logos, player pics, basic uniforms), but you can also predict that the game will lack the configurability that OOTP has. However, the Wolverine/DD interfaces are kind of nice... My vote is that Draft Day Baseball will be OOTP's biggest competition in the not so far future.

After a certain date, if you bought OOTP 2007, the developers would not get paid a dime. Thus, OOTP 8 was released, to remedy that.

You don't need a UK keyboard. Alt 0128 = €

Maybe not, but a UK keyboard makes it easier, it's Crtl+Alt+4, and the symbol is on the 4 key along with the $, the £ is on the 3, also " and @ are swapped around compared to a US keyboard.

In case this post confused anyone else like it did me, I believe this is the explanation: OOTP2007 was released by a Sports Interactive/OOTP Developments partnership; after some point, money from the sales of OOTP2007 must have gone to Sports Interactive, but not to OOTP Developments. So OOTP8 was released as a "new" game, from whose sales OOTP Developments would solely receive the profits.

I know a couple who know an awful lot about it.

But then they actually are programmers.
