Starting a game?

Hello everyone,

Old strat o matic fan here but I'm jumping on this OOTP and I'm very excited about it, but honestly I'm completely overwhelmed by all these options. I just downloaded the manual 600pages!? Oh my god!

Before I spend the rest of my life reading this thing. Can someone please explain how I can start a game and manage my NY Mets.

I keep starting a game( Mets vs Yankees) just so I can get my feet wet, but the game is doing everything

How do I set it up so I can manage? I just get a continue button, no swing away options, or steal, what am I doing wrong?

The sooner I get the hang of this, the sooner I can join a league and never sleep again! Yay me!.

legend, your question is too broad in nature. The answer, of course, is to learn how to play the game. That's too much to try to walk you through in a forum. I can offer you these general suggestions, however:

If you're looking for how to be able to make calls during a ball game....

Make sure you're listed as the owner of a team. Go to Game > Add/Edit Human Manager and give yourself a team. Go to the schedule page, then click the Manage button for the game you want to play. See all those Game Options on the left? Make sure the Controls for your team have your Manager name. You should then be able to start the game and make all the calls.

Sometimes you have to very specific on these forums with all of the options OOTP gives us.

yeap, a little trial and error and I figured out that I needed my manager name on the left.
Played my first game with my Mets vs the Yankees, Won 6-3, I'm in love with this game, and thats after one game. my god! all the options and all those stats to look at and study, I LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

started with APBA baseball, moved on to Strat o Matic, and now I shall say good bye to strat and start a new baseball life with OOTP.

Wait until you join your first online league. Negotiating trades with real live humans! Fun stuff.
