Clay Moyle of Prizefightingbooks.com and the author of the Sam Langford biography found it.

I'm purchasing the Sam Langford book for myself this week. I purchased the Angelo Dundee book "My View From The Corner" a couple weeks ago at the boxing hall of fame and read it already.

I don't usually collect programs. I made an exception in this instance. Mel Turnbow was worth it. Books and magazines are what I mostly have. Also have a number of scrapbooks. My interests lie in things I can read and learn from.

I just began looking through four large cartons of index cards I picked up. These cards are records of Australian boxers A through Z with an index card for each year of activity. They were the fighter records that the late Ray Mitchell had put together. Lots of information, weights, trainers names and some commentary. Just some wonderful stuff. Even includes information about which fights received "showers" from the crowd (sometimes even estimates of the amount of money the crowd tossed into the ring.)

The program touts Mel as a 22 year old prospect.

Don, what a fantastic find! Now we have to get Dean to do some work on Mel in his Ratings of the Day Council.

I've read quite a few cornermen books, but I haven't read Angelo's yet. I love those type of books because their views of life usually takes the form of fight stategies. Good stuff.

And now he is a legend! Unbelievable, Bear! Way to go! I think this will propel Mel to many more wins, though he's 0-for in my latest posts thru Round 5.
