Setting up BOSI for solo play
Continued from General forum.
It is possible to install PhP and MySQL on your computer(I think), but I have never tried. Both of these need to be installed and operating in order for BOSI to work. http://www.php.net http://www.mysql.com They were both primarily made to work on web sites, and have NEVER tried a local install. I doubt it would be easy. As for default space from AOL, I highly doubt they would provide access to a MySQL database. Not even all pay web site providers give that. However, if you get a website that offers PhP or MySQL, or subscribe to the BOSI central server, you could very easily use BOSI for a solo league. Hope this helped.

Installing PHP/Apache/Mysql locally on a windows machine works just fine... although, if this is for a beginner. i wouldnt attempt to set this up yourself, its not hard, but not for the technically timid.
AOL would laugh at you if you asked if you could run BOSI on their servers. pear.com is a good php/mysql host or using the BOSI central server would be the best bet for the nonprogrammer. |
