Making a new world question to those that have
So I am wondering about something I am trying to do. I am trying to create a world that more closely resembles the real one. In this process I am looking at creating some lesser leagues, that are their own parents, that "compete" along with the MLB. The thing that I am trying to get right now is the typical salary marks so that superstars basically don't play in those smaller leagues. Can this be possible with making the ave contract for superstars in that league so high that they can't sign them? Anyway if some one has an idea on this please let me know.

i have no idea really, but just off the top of my head...
could you set salary caps in other leagues low, so they could not afford the premier players? |

yeah this works tho it will take a few seasons to weed out the better players from the lesser league. always a good idea to start 20 or 40 years ahead of where you want to take over a team. that way you can let it sim 20 or so years then delete those stats then sim it again until you have enough history.

I actually imported the history for MLB completely, and I am basically say in my head that the other leagues just started. I am giving them a draft to start the first season. I also have a complete High School and College feeder system in the USA, which is probably a little more in the number of players need for the draft. That way some Americans will leave to play in the other leagues. And I have the other leagues making only 2/3 of the players needed to make their drafts complete. The feeders are where I spent a lot of time. I have the High school system at 80 teams which are broken down by states, and when those states are large ones, by the big cities in them. The college system is set up as a 50 team league so as to take in all the colleges in a state. Basically I look at it to semi-simulate all star McDonalds all-American type layouts. Thanks to everyone for the help and look for the file once I get it done. |

Originally I thought that by a new world you meant that you were making a non-Earth - that you were making up cities and stuff. But you mean a new baseball world. Do you have a story behind why it is the way it is?

Yeah and I will post it once I get the template done. I am just trying to figure out how to make it so that the Japanese/Mexican/ect leagues are not taking a disproportionate amount of super star players. Trying to make it more like RL. I guess I am going to have to try run it for many decades and see if I get it right. |

One thing I did, was to have a global salary structure. I started with the MLB settings for present day and did a little rounding. then each league that I wanted to have lesser talent got things tweaked. For example, say an MLB super star salary setting of 10 mil on down to 300K for poor/min salary. in an independant AA league that I have play 1 four game series each week (thursday-sunday) the superstar setting is the same as the above average MLB setting and I set the min to 100K or so.
I have not perfected this yet, still working out how to keep all the money balanced by playing with max cash, attendance, tix, etc. |
